**Hospital Description**

St. John Hospital and Medical Center is a 772-bed teaching hospital in Detroit, known for excellence in cardiology, oncology, neurosciences, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, women’s services, pediatrics, and medical education. Our Emergency Center, a Level II Trauma Center, has both Chest Pain Center and Heart Failure Center accreditations. We offer excellence in cancer treatment at the Van Elslander Cancer Center. Our wide array of pediatric specialists work in our large inpatient pediatric unit, PICU, and Level III NICU or Level II Special Care Nursery. We were named a Blue Distinction Center in both cardiovascular and orthopedic care by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network.

**Department Description**

40 bed family-centered unit specializing in treatment of newborns to 25 years old with respiratory disorders, asthma, diabetes, surgical, orthopedic, hematology/oncology illnesses, nephrology, neurology and asthma patients along with various medical/surgical diagnoses. Unit features a pediatric pain service, pediatric palliative care service and a child-life program.

**Job Summary**

Under minimal supervision, provides individualized patient care by assessing the patient, identifying patient problems or potential problems, developing and implementing a nursing plan of care, and evaluating care of assigned patients. Job requires standing, walking and occasional heavy lifting in turning and positioning patients.

**Required**

Current Michigan Licensure

AHA (American Heart Association) BLS Health Care Provider Card or its equivalent which is an American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Card renewal every two years

Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing

**Preferred**

Prefer between one and two years progressively more responsible experience.
