The Intelligence & Security Sector (I&S) is seeking a Solution Architect responsible for leading the development of innovative, compelling solutions for enterprise managed services opportunities being pursued by our Business Areas within our sector. This position, located in McLean, Virginia, will report directly to the I&S Vice President /Chief Technology Officer.
This position will serve as the Solution Architect and technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for acquisitions conducted by our customers across the Intel, Defense, and Civilian markets covering a wide-range of enterprise managed services as well as cyber and information assurance. In performing this work, this position will lead and be supported by a matrixed team of specialists. On individual capture opportunities, the Solution Architect will apply industry best practices coupled with innovative cutting and/or bleeding edge advancements to develop winning, tailored solutions aligned to the capture strategy for the opportunity. On these efforts, the Solution Architect will support the assigned Capture Manager to shape and pre-position BAE Systems as a front-runner for award, including being the I&S spokesperson for discussing value of the BAE proposed solution with the customer.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Leads, architects, and develops solutions for I&S key opportunities covering enterprise -wide managed services solutions as well as cyber and information assurance solutions and services. Applies understanding of critical customer program goals to develop winning, best value, tailored solutions. Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in development of these solutions as well as leading a matrixed team of specialists. Specifically, the Solution Architect will:

o Develop IT-based solutions with a focus on the managed services provider (MSP) based solutions, consisting of contextual, conceptual and logical architectures including operational and business models

o Conduct architectural analysis of alternatives (AoA) trade studies including CAIV

o Develop lifecycle cost models to support architecture decision trades

o Communicate solutions with customers, management, and teaming partners, including presentations and white papers

o Develop technical approach and project engineering plans, including tasks, process and critical resources, to turn the solution into a successful proposal

• Leads the development of technology roadmaps for new and or enhanced I&S capability offerings to ensure that I&S is a recognized leader in targeted markets.

• Subject Matter Expert responsible for assessing and recommending solutions to I&S Management Team and Customers for challenging issues arising during contract execution.

• Subject Matter Expert supporting I&S CTO and Vice President of Strategy with respect to technology initiatives included in annual IBP process

• Serves as I&S representative on industry forums and in discussions with industry leading product and technology OEM's
*Required Skills and Education*

Required education: Bachelor Degree in appropriate discipline (e.g. Engineering, Computer Sciences)
• Ability to think strategically and effectively communicate at the most senior levels of government or corporate management with customers to understand their mission needs and requirements, and to communicate the value of BAE Systems solutions Experience leading and supporting proposal efforts, comprising a diverse matrixed team of technical specialists, and involving the development of novel or innovative new solutions

• Experience leading architecture of enterprise-wide managed services as well as cyber and information assurance solutions , collaborating across organizations, and developing and presenting technical papers

• Experience in managed services development and operational support including the development of operations & support models and the business models

• Lifecycle cost modeling and decision support methodologies

• Experience developing and implementing business models and service catalogs

• Experience leading and supporting proposal efforts with hands-on experience in technical solution and proposal development processes

• Knowledge and understanding open source software (OOS) and its development model

• Experience developing Information Assurance and Cybersecurity solutions

• Knowledge and understanding the managed service provider (MSP) model and the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

• Experience with migration of both infrastructure and applications to the cloud environment, including but not limited to desktop as a service and software as a service solutions

• Experience with cloud enterprise solutions, including working knowledge of cloud architecture virtualization, storage, server, networking, data center services, and other leading-edge products and technology in conjunction with industry and business skills to influence clients

• Strong understanding of applications and how they are suited for cloud computing environments, strong technical background in JAVA environments, service oriented architecture (SOA) development, JAVA and J2EE, and Microsoft .Net, along with exposure to IBM, HP, McAfee, FireEye, RSA and other OEM product suites.

• Knowledge and understanding of formal information systems development processes such as spiral and incremental development, agile development, SEI CMMI or ISO 9000.

• IT specific domain knowledge, including (i) ITIL; (ii) End user computing; (iii) Network engineering; (iv) Enterprise IT infrastructure; and, (v) Data center engineering

• Federal contracting and procurement experience and knowledge and understanding of mission challenges and issues confronting federal government customers

• Expert in cross-functional team building, leadership, training, operations, communications, change management, organizational development

• Expertise with systems engineering processes

• Expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., DoDAF, Zachman)

• Minimum of 15+ years' experience, including 10+ years of IT experience

• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

• Master's Degree (Preferred in appropriate discipline)
