Senior Engineer (Electronic and Construction)
JOB SUMMARY
The PrePass Electronic/Construction Sr. Engineer will apply a broad and in-depth working knowledge of electronics and construction to a wide variety of assignments through the application of technical concepts, practices, and procedures. The successful incumbent generally will be required to work with and test system networks, RF communications, as well as work closely with construction and construction engineers to design site layout. May also be required to assist in obtaining necessary permits and contracts to begin construction. Individual will be required to work under tight deadlines, and operates independently.
PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
* Troubleshoots hardware, software and/or network operating problems. Uses basic and specialized test equipment to diagnose and analyze difficulties.
* Works with contractors and state permitting offices on construction projects
* May troubleshoot related communications problems, e.g., in a LAN environment, applying knowledge of wiring, standard cable connections and wire closets/MAUs.
* Takes appropriate corrective action, interfacing with vendor, carrier, client and staff as necessary.
* Uses standard hand and power tools and technical manuals. (May work with multiple vendors, manufacturers, etc.)
* Maintains work order documentation, technical schematics and diagrams.
* Works with appropriate States, vendors and customers to obtain necessary permits
* Obtains contracts and Insurance certificates from sub-contractors
* Works with Engineering and Software teams to diagnose, test and find potential opportunities for better performance or cost savings of system design of build specifications.
* Required travel: 50% domestic travel and 50% administrative/office work
REQUIREMENTS
* Minimum of 3-5 years progressively responsible experience, demonstrating in-depth working familiarity with a broad range of electronic equipment.
* Ability to perform bench maintenance and repair to sub-assembly/component level and to use a variety of specialized test equipment and associated diagnostic devices. (Specifics are defined/may vary by applicable end-user area.)
* Strong demonstrated analytical and creative problem solving skills.
* Basic PC literacy.
* Good customer service orientation and appreciation of role as representative.
* Maturity of judgment under pressure/ability to diagnose level of user need and to escalate problems without delay to appropriate levels for resolution.
* Considerable client and end-user interface by phone and/or in-person necessitates good (clear) verbal communication skills and credible customer presence (appearance, attitude & demeanor).
* Flexibility and the ability to operate under stressful, time-sensitive deadlines.
* Commitment to quality and personal ethics.
* Ability to work independently, but as part of team concept.
* Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
* Construction management and highway construction management a plus.
* Weigh in Motion Scale experience a plus.
* Bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
* Frequently works in confined spaces, with considerable bending, stooping, crawling and lifting (40-60 lbs.); regular use of testing and diagnostic equipment.
* Quick-reaction/customer-focused team environment.
* Travel up-to 50%
* Respond to maintenance issues at assigned sites in the US.
* Must be currently eligible to work in the United States
