Here in Los Angeles, firmly planed in the foundation of the arts culture is the underground world of the DIY venue.  This is where communities, musicians, and all artists alike come together as one to create a home-grown and intimate location to share each other’s passions, celebrate individuality, and to knit the fabric that is our expression of happiness.

One of our longest tenured venues, The Smell, is celebrating it’s 17 year anniversary with a trifecta of shows, which are also benefits with all proceedings going towards the relocation fund for the iconic venue, from January 6th-8th with two shows at The Smell and the biggest of the three at the Belasco Theater.

The Smell has been providing a positive and and supportive environment of creativity for all ages and arts since its inception in 1998.  It has been carried on through the years BY the community and FOR the community, completely supported by volunteer work and a modest entry fee for all events.  The Smell has been slated to be demolished and while the original walls will be taken down, the spirit, love and sense of community will remain.  After all, it us who created the unique energy and vibe both artists and fans alike and if there is one thing that cannot be demolished, it is the human’s instinct to create, share, and to come together and celebrate.
