The seventh annual UK Music Video Awards took place in London last night, held in honour of British and international filmmakers and to celebrate creative and technical excellence in music videos.

Winners included directors, producers, artists and commissioners, and spanned across the spectrum of production and post-production craft categories.

Video of the Year went to American directing duo Daniels, who received a total of five nominations and also picked up Best Dance Video - International for DJ Snake ft Lil Jon’s Turn Down For What.

LA-based director Hiro Murai was named Best Director of the past year for his body of work, which includes Queens of the Stone Age’s Smooth Sailing, which also won him the Best Rock/Indie Video – International.

One of the big British winners of the night was Daniel Wolfe for Paolo Nutini’s eight-minute Iron Sky, which picked up five nominations and rewarded him with the Best Pop Video title as well as the Best Cinematography prize for Robbie Ryan.

Also picking up two honours at the ceremony was Mercury Prize-nominated FKA Twigs (pictured) who won the brand new Best Video Artist category, as well as the Best Alternative Video – Budget for Papi Pacify, co-directed by Twigs with Tom Beard.

Other British women gracing the stage on the night included Agile Films producer, Amber Millington, who won the Best Producer award, and Caroline Clayton who took home Best Commissioner.

Alt-J, Atoms For Peace, Disclosure, Paloma Faith, Peace, Jon Hopkins and James were among the other British artists whose videos won awards at the UKMVAs.

In the non-video categories, Kate Moross collected the Best Music Ad – TV or Online for her direction of Settle by Disclosure. And Bartleberry Logan picked up the Best Live Music Coverage title for his direction of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Live in Paris.

Among other international talent celebrated at the awards were Israeli director Vania Heymann, French directing team Truman & Cooper and OK Go.

Sia and Daniel Askill were honoured for the choreography-led video for Chandelier and UK director Sam Pilling grabbed the Best International Urban Video award for J Cole ft Amber Coffman’s She Knows.

Sony Music were the biggest winners among record labels at the UK MVAs, picking up five awards, and Grammy-award winning video director Joseph Kahn was presented with the Icon Award.
