Music companies or individuals looking to take part in the 10th annual US Sync Licensing Mission hosted by BPI, the Music Publishers Association and UK Trade and Investment have until Friday April 4 to submit their applications.
Held in the heart of Hollywood at the iconic Capitol Tower, the mission will take place from June 2 - 6 2014 coinciding with the LA Sync Summit, which brings together top executives and creators across music and media.
Each year, the Sync Mission provides record labels, publishers, songwriters, composers, artists and managers with the opportunity not only to gain an insight into the way sync licensing works in the US but also to meet and network with some of the most important music supervisors and placement executives in the TV, film, advertising and video games markets.
Looking ahead to the mission, BPI director of independent membership and international Chris Tams said: “Over the last ten years the LA Sync Mission has been responsible for securing placements for British music on award-winning movies and TV shows, creative trailers and popular video games including the movie blockbuster Battleship, the popular FIFA game and many well-known TV shows including True Blood, The Tomorrow People, Modern Family and the CSI franchises. The mission provides a real opportunity for those working in all corners of the music industry across the UK to network in Hollywood and talk face-to-face with the people who can place British music on some of the most popular cult TV series and blockbuster movies to come out of the US.”
Sue Hantsch from the Music Publishers Association added: “Advance interest in this year’s LA Sync Mission has been extremely high – not surprising when you consider the unparalleled opportunities available to participating UK music companies. British music and songwriting are very strong exports for the UK, being in demand all over the world. The MPA is committed to helping UK music publishers maintain this success, and working with BPI and UKTI on trade missions such as this is a crucial part of that.”
Speaking on behalf of UK Trade and Investment, music specialist Phil Patterson, said: “This mission offers UK companies a unique opportunity to meet with some of the world’s top music supervisors and industry executives who are directly responsible for syncing music in television programmes, movies, ads and computer games, which while offering revenue streams for these tracks also introduces new music and artists to huge audiences around the world. UK Trade & Investment realise the growing importance that these opportunities present and are therefore delighted to continue to support and deliver this mission with our partners, that has helped introduce many UK companies and great British music to the world via media placements!”
