Bob Dylan And The Band's The Basement Tapes (1975), Fleetwood Mac eponymous album (1975), John Coltrane's Lush Life (1961), Miles Davis's Miles Davis Quintet (1967), The Pretenders's eponymous debut album (1980), Grateful Dead's American Beauty (1970), Roberta Flack's debut First Take (1969) and Randy Newman's eponymous debut (1968) are among the newest additions to The Recording Academy's Grammy Hall Of Fame.

In a statement, the Academy says that this latest round of inducted recordings "continues to highlight diversity and recording excellence, and acknowledges both singles and album recordings of all genres at least 25 years old that exhibit qualitative or historical significance."

Each year, recordings are reviewed by a special member committee comprised of knowledgeable professionals from all branches of the recording arts, with final approval by The Recording Academy's National Board of Trustees. The class of 2016 comprises 26 new titles, albums and singles, bringing to 1,013 the number of recordings recognised by the Academy for its Grammy Hall Of Fame.

Also added to the 2016 list are Sister Rosetta Tharpe's This Train (1939), Leadbelly's Rock Island Line (1942), Blondie's Heart Of Glass (1979), John Lee Hooker's Boom Boom (1962), Joe Cocker's You Are So Beautiful, the O'Jays' For The Love Of Money (1974), Joan Jett & The Blackhearts's I Love Rock'n Roll (1982) and Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville (1977), among others.

"The Recording Academy remains dedicated to celebrating a wide variety of great music through the decades," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy. "Spanning more than 50 years, the 2016 Grammy Hall Of Fame entries are an outstanding collection, marked by both historical and cultural significance. These works have influenced and inspired both music creators and fans for generations and we are proud to induct them into our catalog of distinguished recordings."

Eligible recipients receive an official certificate from The Recording Academy and the full collection is on display at the Grammy Museum at L.A. LIVE.
