The shortlists for the 2015 European Festival Awards has been revealed.

The winners will be announced on-stage at the European Festival Awards gala ceremony on the opening night of Eurosonic Noorderslag in Groningen, the Netherlands on Wednesday, January 14, 2015.

Music festivals in more than 35 different European countries compete for public-voted accolades including the Best Major, Medium, Small, New and Indoor Festivals as well as the Line-Up Of The Year. The titles for artists include Headliner Of The Year, Best Newcomer and Anthem Of The Year.

In 2014, a record 1.2 million votes were cast by fans for their favourite festivals and artists, a 100% increase on last year’s figures.

Steve Jenner, co-founder and director comments: “With more festivals from more countries participating in these awards than previously, we were expecting an increase in fan engagement but not to this extent – we are blown away by the response!

"As well as being a positive indicator of confidence returning to the market, this shows that festivals are becoming more skilled in communicating with their customers, strengthening audience loyalty and leveraging it. It should make for a great party in Groningen this year.”
