‘The State of Connecticut is now demanding that gun owners across the state turn in all newly-banned, unregistered firearms and magazines or face felony arrest. The State Police Special Licensing & Firearms Unit began mailing out notices to gun owners who attempted to register their firearms and accessories with the state but did not do so in time for the Jan. 1 deadline of Connecticut’s newly enacted gun control law. The law bans the sale of magazines holding over 10 rounds and “assault rifles” manufactured after 1994 and requires that residents who possessed either before the ban to register them with the state.’ [Read more].

Therefore, we can conclude that we may soon see SWAT-style raids on the homes of suspected law breakers. ‘This is deadly serious stuff, this foray into an undiscovered country that you have so blithely entered upon, like blind men and women tap dancing in a minefield you scarcely comprehend. Fully eighty-five percent of the people you targeted with the law — the people that YOU AND YOU ALONE made into lawbreakers — have just told you by their noncompliance to take your unconstitutional law and stick it where the sun don’t shine. Does that not tell you ANYTHING? These people are ARMED.They are familiar with the finer points of marksmanship. They are principled in a way that perhaps only the Founders would understand — at the risk of their own lives. So what part of “Oh, HELL no” don’t you understand? You have been playing with titanic forces. You are going to send armed agents of the state to their doors to work your collective and collectivist will upon THEM? You have unintentionally sown the wind and if things go predictably south you will reap the whirlwind.
Connecticut is sending out this letter to gun owners
‘BUT IT IS WITHIN YOUR POWER TO REVERSE. You own the weather machine, as it were. I’m not asking you to repeal the law, although that makes perfect sense to me. No, I realize that too much of your ego, your own false vision of omnipotence is wrapped up in it to do THAT. What I am asking you to do — no, what I am BEGGING you to do — is to use your power to suspend the enforcement of that Intolerable Act at least until it is ruled constitutional or not by the United States Supreme Court. “An unconstitutional law is null and void.” Do you really wish to risk death and destruction upon innocent people — upon us all — on a bet against the odds? Is your appetite for your own citizens’ liberty, property and lives that insatiable? Or now, as the likely unintended consequences of your actions have been directly explained to you, are you willing to reconsider the menu choices? What will your political fortunes be when the first shots are exchanged over this? When the first innocents are killed in carrying out your will? What will your arrogance, your ignorance, your insufferable pride be worth to you then? What will it be worth to any of us? Starting a bloody civil war seems an odd way to avoid “violence against children.”

“The importance of what’s happening in Connecticut and how its citizens are responding cannot be understated. What we have here is a government that has directly violated the Second Amendment of the United States of America by legislating forced gun registration with the penalty of confiscation of said firearms and felony imprisonment for those who refuse to comply. They have now threatened all Connecticut residents with arrest if they refuse to turn over their firearms. In coming days and weeks, unless Mike Vanderboegh’s warnings are heeded, we will begin to see police-state raids of homes belonging to anyone suspected of owning an unregistered firearm or accessory.

Officials in Connecticut Stunned by What Could Be a Massive, State-Wide Act of ‘Civil Disobedience’ by Gun Owners
On Jan. 1, 2014, tens of thousands of defiant gun owners seemingly made the choice not to register their semi-automatic rifles with the state of Connecticut as required by a hastily-passed gun control law. By possessing unregistered so-called “assault rifles,” they all technically became guilty of committing Class D felonies overnight.
Police had received 47,916 applications for “assault weapons certificates” and 21,000 incomplete applications as of Dec. 31, Lt. Paul Vance told The Courant.
At roughly 50,000 applications, officials estimate that as little as 15 percent of the covered semi-automatic rifles have actually been registered with the state. “No one has anything close to definitive figures, but the most conservative estimates place the number of unregistered assault weapons well above 50,000, and perhaps as high as 350,000,” the report states.
Needless to say, officials and some lawmakers are stunned.
Due to the new gun control bill passed in April, likely at least 20,000 individual people — possibly as many as 100,000 — are now in direct violation of the law for refusing to register their guns. As we noted above, that act is now a Class D Felony.
Mike Lawlor, “the state’s top official in criminal justice,” suggested maybe the firearms unit in Connecticut could “sent them a letter.” However, he said an aggressive push to prosecute gun owners in the state is not going to happen at this point.
Lawlor, the undersecretary for criminal justice policy in the state Office of Policy and Management, also suggested that the legislature should reopen the registration period to encourage more gun owners to register their firearms.

An Open Letter To Governor Malloy On Gun Control

Dear Governor Malloy:
I’d like to address you regarding the crisis currently taking place in Connecticut with gun registration. But before I do, let me preface my statements contained herein, with my deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and families of the Sandy Hook tragedy.
First, let us remember what led to the shooting. Adam Lanza STOLE his mothers LEGALLY OWNED guns to commit this heinous act. Bearing that in mind, the great state of Connecticut in their infinite wisdom felt more gun control laws were needed, despite the fact that Connecticut already had some of the strictest gun control in the nation already in place when Sandy Hook occurred.
So what did your state come up with Governor? An “Assault Weapon” Gun Registry! You sir, signed a bill making law-abiding citizens FELONS for not registering the guns they’ve owned for years. Let’s break this down for a minute.
An “Assault Weapon” is a term that was coined by politicians to make scary looking guns sound scarier. Now an “Assault Rifle” (more commonly called a “Service Rifle”) is a rifle issued to our troops that is a “select fire” weapon. This means the gun has the capability to fire more than one bullet with one pull of the trigger. What the Connecticut legislation has done, is demonized a rifle (the AR-15) that is nothing more than a clone. In other words, these rifles that you’re calling “assault weapons” function NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER HUNTING OR SPORTING RIFLE. To clarify this even more, it’s the equivalent of putting a Ferrari body onto a Chevy Cavalier. It may look like a hot rod, but it’s still a fuel-efficient “four banger” under the hood. So essentially your state Governor, has decided to regulate something based solely on its appearance.
Now let’s talk about registration. First, I’m a bit perplexed as to how a Connecticut gun registry would’ve prevented Sandy Hook. That’s the reason for this registry, right Governor? Surely you don’t think that Adam Lanza would’ve registered the guns he STOLE from his mother before he committed the murders in Newtown, do you? Of course you don’t. You’re an educated man Governor. You and I both know that a registration wouldn’t have prevented that tragedy.
Finally, let’s talk about your debacle in Connecticut. The bill you signed required all so-called “assault weapons” to be registered by the end of the year. Seems like that didn’t work out so well either, did it? You now have up to 300,000 unregistered so-called “assault weapons” in your state. That means you’ve successfully made felons out of possibly more than 100,000 law-abiding Connecticut citizens. Doctors, lawyers, pilots, factory workers, single mothers, now all felons in the largest act of civil disobedience your state has ever seen. Your prisons are full of murderers, rapists, child molesters, kidnappers, and drug dealers, and you’ve got room for 100,000 brand new felons?
Governor Malloy, your tenure in the Governors mansion would be much more well served if you focused on maximum penalties for those already convicted of violent crime, rather than criminalizing your citizens with an unconstitutional law. As for my organization, we can only hope that this act of civil disobedience will cause you to re-evaluate the law. We both know that jailing 100,000 law-abiding Connecticut citizens will make you look like a childish fool, political suicide actually!
So now what? You’ve got a couple of options as I see it. You could ignore this legislative disaster that you’ve created, and hope America forgets. But you’ve gathered so much negative press already from your states citizens rebelling, that’s not likely. You could initiate an attempted confiscation and arrest on law-abiding citizens for failing to register, but if they already gave you the big fat middle finger by not registering, what are the odds that there going to just “hand over” THEIR LEGALLY OWNED WEAPONS? If I know gun owners (AND I DO), that’s a very bad idea. How would you feel about being solely responsible for starting the next American Revolution Governor? So option two isn’t a good choice either. That being said Governor, I implore you to do what is not only Constitutional, it’s the only sensible decision to be made. Repeal the law, and start examining methods to truly reduce violent crime, methods that involve keeping violent offenders behind bars.
