Our exclusive Murad Summer Internship Program is an annual tradition, and this year’s group of hard-working interns made us proud. Being a family-owned company, our interns are treated like part of the Murad family during their eight weeks with us. They even get to hang out with Dr. Murad himself!

In addition to being a motivated and passionate group, our 2014 summer interns have really been helping out around our corporate headquarters. So who are these up-and-comers? Here’s your chance to meet them.

Ceinna B., 18, Social Media Dept.

San Diego State University

How has your time at Murad been so far?
My time at Murad has been great! It’s like working with family because everyone works together as one unit. I’ve really enjoyed myself the past 6 weeks.

How have you practiced Inclusive Health in your life?

I try to incorporate Inclusive Health by eating more water-rich foods, playing soccer with my little sister and doing Art Therapy.

Tell us something unique about yourself or a little about your background.

I sing in the choir at my church and crotchet beanies for cancer patients.

What is your favorite Murad product and why?
My favorite Murad product is the Acne Spot Fix Fast because it really does decrease the intensity of my pimples within a day. I like FAST results and it’s amazing!

What has been your favorite activity while interning?
My favorite activity was going to watch the Art Therapy demonstration at a school in Culver City. It was a lot of fun!

What have you learned from this experience?
This overall experience has helped me learn how to interact with others in the work environment. I’ve also learned how much work, effort, and passion you need to create a successful company, such as Murad.

Kiana B., 19, International Department

Exciting and enriching. I’ve learned something new every day and I really like the projects that my mentor has given me.

How have you practiced Inclusive Health in your life?
I’ve never really taken care of my skin, so now I eat more fruits and vegetables because it’s good to eat your water instead of just drinking it. I also use Murad products.

Tell us something unique about yourself or a little about your background.
I really love traveling. Even though I haven’t been to that many countries or cities, I am studying abroad in the spring to London and I’m very excited.

What is your favorite Murad product and why?
The Essential-C Eye Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 15 | PA++ is good for my eyes and gets rid of my dark circles.

Going to see the new location and exploring L.A.

What have you learned from this experience?
So much! I gained experience about what it’s like to work in an office and how there is something new each day and you have to prioritize.

Tara S., 19, Marketing Department

University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

How has your time at Murad been so far?
It’s been pretty awesome. I’ve had cool and interesting projects. I’ve learned how to work with data and use Excel.  I’ve also met a lot of cool people.

How have you practiced Inclusive Health in your life?
This summer I’ve eaten more fresh foods and exercised more. I’ve also paid more attention to the whole idea of taking care of my body.

Tell us something unique about yourself or a little about your background.
I’m originally from the Chicago area, I go to school in Michigan and my family just moved to San Jose, CA. My favorite food is pomegranate.

What is your favorite Murad product and why?
The Oil Free Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | PA+++.  I put it on all the time. I love the smell and I can’t go without it. I’ve never really used sunscreen, but being at Murad has taught me how important it is.

What has been your favorite activity while interning?
Going to the Distribution Center just because I’ve learned more about the operations part of a business. I’ve gained a lot of respect for the people that work there. It’s not easy and it’s a huge part of the business. It was really fun.

What have you learned from this experience?
In terms of our department, I actually learned a lot about databases, how to deal with data, and how to work through it. In general, I’ve learned how to work with others in a business environment and the ins and outs of an office.

Hayden O., 21. Retail Marketing

Tulane University

How has your time at Murad been so far?
This has been the best internship I’ve had, and I’ve had about 3 or 4.

How have you practiced Inclusive Health in your life?
I use Murad products, but I also try to work out regularly and eat pretty healthy.

Tell us something unique about yourself or a little about your background.
I’m really proud of my Asian heritage and I like to associate with it. Being in New Orleans has taught me that my heritage is more important than I thought.  Being in a place where there are not a lot of people that are like you, ethnically speaking, is more difficult than I thought it would be.

What is your favorite Murad product and why?

I like the Essential-C Cleanser because it’s refreshing and I also feel like I’m protecting my skin from environmental oxidants. It also smells really nice.

What has been your favorite activity while interning?
The visit to the Distribution Center because we got to experience first-hand what goes into packaging and shipping out the product.

What have you learned from this experience?
Retail marketing is a new area of Murad as a company and they’re more than just advertising the product and selling it. They’re trying to get people to really understand the whole Inclusive Health message which I think is important. So they are really helping with the whole shift of the company from just selling skin care products, to getting the customers to understand Dr.Murad’s philosophy.

Ligia M., 21, Accounting Department

Mount St. Mary’s College

How has your time at Murad been so far?
It’s been amazing and wonderful. I’ve been able to get familiar with my department and their procedures and explore different areas.

How have you practiced Inclusive Health in your life?
I eat my water and I’m incorporating more fruits and vegetables into my diet. As well as thinking outside of the box! So if I’m just thinking about coloring, I’ll grab a Crayola and scribble. I also exercise and use the Murad products.

Tell us something unique about yourself or a little about your background.
My whole life I wanted to go into the medical field, but in college I switched to business.

What is your favorite Murad product and why?
The Essential-C Day Moisture Broad Spectrum SPF 30 | PA+++ because it smells so good that it wakes me up in the morning.

What has been your favorite activity while interning?
Getting to go on different field trips like the Distribution Center and Orientation, so you can see how the products are made.

What have you learned from this experience?
That there is so much involved in making one product, and how all the departments are involved. I enjoyed learning all the aspects and how they sell not only nationally, but internationally. I think it made me see how much production goes into making a product.

Anthony M., 21, Global Marketing

CSU Fullerton

How has your time at Murad been so far?
It’s been a great experience and a lot of fun.  It’s cool because I’ve been working kind of like an adult. So it’s nice to see how that is because we’ve been striving for that our whole lives.

How have you practiced Inclusive Health in your life?
I definitely like to exercise a lot. I play basketball a lot because it helps me mentally and physically. It makes me happy and helps build muscles (because apparently muscles retain water better than fat). I also try to eat as healthy as possible. One thing I’ve learned from Dr. Murad is that you’re only supposed to eat 20% comfort food and 80% healthy.

Tell us something unique about yourself or a little about your background.
I play the viola.

What is your favorite Murad product and why?
The Murad Men’s Cleansing Shave. Product orientation helped me realize that it cleanses you first and is used as a shaving cream. It leaves your skin feeling nice and moisturized, with no burning feeling.

What has been your favorite activity while interning?
I like all of the activities, Cari and Dr.Murad take great care of us.

What have you learned from this experience?
What it’s like to work in a corporate place and applying what I’ve learned in school to real life. So it’s beneficial for me.

Shelly M., 19, Global Marketing

Muhlenberg College

How has your time at Murad been so far?
It has been very pleasant working as an intern here at Murad. I love working with the other interns. Everyone’s always around to answer my questions when I am confused about something.

How have you practiced Inclusive Health in your life?
Since working at Murad, I have really paid attention to the things that I focus my attention on, and when I find myself getting caught up in cultural stress, I remind myself that my Inclusive Health is more important. I have also been significantly more cautious about how much time I spend in the sun and doing other activities that are fun but harmful to my body inside and out.

Tell us something unique about yourself or a little about your background.
I love animals so much and if I could do anything, I would own a farm with all different types of animals.

What is your favorite Murad product and why?
My favorite product at Murad is the Essential-C Cleanser. I have never been very good at washing my face, but since I recently have, I feel refreshed to start my day in the morning and relaxed to go to sleep at night after using the product.

What has been your favorite activity while interning?
My favorite activity is laughing with the other interns!

What have you learned from this experience?
I have learned so many things. One thing that is still shocking to me is the amount of communication necessary between employees to get just a small job done. I also have learned that there are so many different departments and sub-departments that make up a company that it can get confusing. But it gives me more opportunities to explore my possible career path in the future.

Juliet W., 20, e-Commerce Department

College of William and Mary

How has your time at Murad been so far?
Really fun and mostly informative. I’ve learned a lot of things.

How have you practiced Inclusive Health in your life?
I try to eat more fruits and vegetables. I also try to act like a toddler and not care about what others think of me all the time, but it can be difficult.

Tell us something unique about yourself or a little about your background.
I am majoring in Spanish.

What is your favorite Murad product and why?
I love the Oil-Control Mattifier SPF 15 l PA++ because it works and feels really good and it’s a sunscreen too.

What has been your favorite activity while interning?
I really enjoyed when we watched the Art Therapy demonstration at the school in Culver City. It was very interesting and informative.

What have you learned from this experience?
A lot of things besides how to make a website. I realized how much collaboration is needed to work together. Sometimes it’s not easy, but you have to do it.

This year’s summer program has provided a great experience for these bright students and for all of us here at Murad. Because we value the contributions that our interns make to our organization, our internships are paid.  Because we are always interested in enhancing the lives of the members of the larger Murad corporate family, our employees are the first people we reach out to when we start to recruit interns for each year’s program. We’re proud of this program because it extends beyond traditional internships. Group activities like hiking, volunteering and more are woven into the experience, as this aligns with our company’s core values.  We thank our 2014 summer interns for a rewarding summer and wish them well with their next adventures!
