Continuing my blog gems series, I am delighted to introduce the multi-talented Becky Goddard-Hill, who shares her best posts of 2013.
Becky is a parenting author and a blogger who focuses her writing on creative family life on a budget. She blogs at www.BabyBudgeting.co.uk and www.Family-Budgeting.co.uk.
She also has a new blog she began this year www.abeautifulspace.co.uk for all things unrelated to being thrifty! She has two fabulous kids and is a bit of a hippy at heart.
The first post I have to share with you is this….
My completed home makeover on a budget project
This post details how we made over every room in our house this year. Each room makeover sponsored by a different brand. It took 6 months and we were so delighted with the results. I still look round in wonder at how nice our home is compared to a year ago. Come and have a look here at my before and after photos! I love how blogging can make things happen.
My journey to the MAD Blog Awards
One of the absolute highlights of this year was winning the MAD best thrifty blog award (on my fourth attempt!) I have been to every single MAD blog award ceremony and in this post I tell you my emotional journey to them and the lovely people I have met along the way (I warn you it’s a bit of a weepy!) Come and have a read here. Blogging has made me part of a great community and I have made some beautiful friends
Ideas for a simple life
A new series I started in 2013 is ‘Ideas for a Simple Life’ where I share 10 ideas I have each month for how you can have a simple but wonderful month. The idea is you as a family find enjoyment in simple seasonal food or fun without the need to spend much. In November I talked soup, snakes scarves and syrup! You can find the post here. Blogging is a great way to share ideas
Seven Spanish Angels
Over at my new blog A Beautiful Space I write about things that touch my heart and make me smile. I write about art and music and interiors, fashion and culture. I share photos I love and record memories. In this post Seven Spanish Angels I talk about a piece of music and a cowboy that makes me smile. These are the kinds of posts I’ll print off one day and make into a book for my kids. You can read this here. Blogging is so good for capturing memories.
Emotionally Intelligent Budgeting
Back at Baby Budgeting and probably one of the posts I feel most passionate about is this one about emotionally intelligent budgeting. I firmly believe we should all know how to do this to keep ourselves debt free and to make our lives healthier. This post is about being emotionally able to say no to the pressures of materialism and consumerism. It’s about being assertive about money. It’s about being a bit greener and a bit more eco-friendly too. Who wants materialistic kids who don’t know how to play with cardboard boxes and daisies? Not me! Do come and have a read here. Blogging enables me to share what I believe to be important
