PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon, Inc. officials announced that bonuses totaling $5,000 will be awarded to 13 top American finishers in last month’s EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler. The payout is part of the organization’s American Development Program launched this year to encourage, support and increase exposure and racing opportunities for emerging USA runners.

“This additional payday reflects our full commitment to assist the next generation of American runners as they start their professional careers, “said Patrice Matamoros, Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon, Inc. CEO. “The bonus is a ‘thank you’ to the American athletes who ran in the inaugural EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler. We look forward to welcoming them and other runners to Pittsburgh throughout 2014 at all of our premier events as part of our American Development Program.”

The next premier event on the American Development Program schedule is the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon and the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon set for Sunday, May 4.
