Introducing Team MSI

MSI’s expansion into the world of integrated marketing began in 2006 with the purchase of new equipment and the acquisition of new team members experienced in print production, design and marketing. Our production capacity continues to expand, too, as we strive to remain at the forefront of methodology and technology with regard to direct marketing.

We are happy to introduce team members from our various departments in this and future installments of our newsletter. Each of us is dedicated to your success and we hope you find this information interesting and helpful.

The Three Musketeers of the MSI Design Team
“All for One and One for All!”

Teri Paulus

In-house design services began in February of 2006 with the hiring of Teri Paulus. Teri came to MSI from LectraMedia (print and mail house in Nevada City, California) where she had been Print Production Manager for two years, followed by three years of sales to trade clients including designers, printers and brokers. Teri has been a professional graphic designer since 1994 when she began producing marketing material for the Grass Valley Downtown Association as Director and in-house designer. Most importantly, her experience with LectraMedia and eight years with MSI, have given her the opportunity to become an expert in mail piece design, best practices and copywriting.

Teri has a diverse background which has aided in her ability to grasp new concepts and vernacular. During her professional career, she has been a Landscape Architect, Jr. Forester, logger, wildland firefighter, Executive Director of a Business Improvement District, Personnel Analyst, and Parks and Recreation laborer. Teri believes her greatest skill is being able to understand and empathize with a wide variety of people. This is in part why she can help you drill down to what you want to accomplish with your marketing message, and how to get there.

Teri is published in Sierra Heritage Magazine and wrote weekly articles on Landscape Design and also Fitness for the Union newspaper in Grass Valley.

Teri’s education includes an Associate Degree in Forestry from Sierra College, and a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Landscape Architecture from U.C. Davis.

Dennis Wolfers came to MSI in January of 2009 as manager of the Data and Prepress departments. Dennis has

extensive experience with variable data printing, which he combines with excellent design skills. MSI uses FusionPro variable data software to produce personalized mail pieces. The software, combined with Dennis’ knowledge of Javascript, allows us to integrate design and data in a large spectrum of projects with complicated data streams. Dennis does all this while preserving the intent of the original designer and meeting the intricate requirements of the USPS.

The attention to detail that Dennis brings to the team guarantees your data and design deliver the right message to the right audience.

Dennis is also a past professional at LectraMedia, Inc. of Nevada City. During his seven years at LectraMedia, he managed the Prepress department focusing on high-quality digital printing and mailing services.  Dennis excelled at developing process automation solutions and efficiency improvements. He also served as in-house designer and provided technical advice and training to designers preparing projects for LectraMedia.

Dennis owned Alegra Design in Santa Clara for ten years prior to moving to the Sierra foothills and LectraMedia. His design studio produced work for Apple, Ashlar, Dionex, HP, Intel, SCO, Seagate, and many others, creating collaterals, tradeshow graphics, packaging, websites, and branding. The more complicated the design, the more you can trust it to get done right at MSI.

The design department recently acquired another graphic designer, Rich Quigley. Rich is a consummate professional and has an extensive background in graphic design.  Rich worked with the Tehachapi News newspaper in Bakersfield for three years designing advertisements for print and web, and also running the pre-press/production department.

Rich Quigley

Rich’s two years as Production Artist for Forester Communications gave him the experience and skills to design quickly and creatively within tight time frames. His education and proficiency in English have added another dimension to MSI’s copy writing and editing services.

To top off Rich’s design experience, he was graphic designer for Sacramento’s own Tower Records for two years. He designed for a plethora of media and also pre-flighted all work running through the design department. The visitors and projects that came to the headquarters where Rich worked were eclectic and unique. He used this opportunity to develop creative skills afforded by the wide variety of subject matter.

Rich is extremely proficient in IT and is a proud alumnus of the Geek Squad at Best Buy. Rich is right and left brained - a great combination for the benefit of all our MSI customers. Rich’s education includes an Associate of Arts in Graphic Design from De Anza College and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

Please stop by the Design Department on you next visit to MSI and say hi to Rich, Dennis and Teri!
