The MLB Cheat Sheets will be similar to our NBA Cheat Sheets but with a focus on helping you take down a GPP. We are going to give you two players to look at in five categories. We are going to give you our top play and value play at pitcher, corner infielder (1B/3B), middle infielder (2B/SS) and outfielder. We also are going to give you our top stack and catcher of the day. I will also be giving you the player that I fell is going to go deep or my Dong of the Day.
Note for a hitter to be considered a value play they have to be priced under $3,000 and for a pitcher to be considered a value play they need to priced under $8,000 using FanDuel’s pricing.
Editors Note: As with any start to a season we will be constantly evolving what is in our posts to make them better and more informative for you the readers. If you guys have anything you want to see in this post or any post don’t hesitate to leave a comment or email me at zach@moxyball.com.
Note: I will not be giving you any hitters from Coors Field in this post. Anytime there is a game at Coors Field almost all hitters are in play but my personal strategy with Coors Field is to fade that game as the hitters are overpriced and very chalky.
Pitchers
Top Pitcher: Chris Sale
Remember we are looking for a couple of things with our pitchers. First we want them to have a chance to pick up the win and Sale has a great chance to do that as he is the second largest favorite on the board at -170. Secondly we want them to not be super chalky and with Clayton Kershaw taking the mound that should help keep Sale’s ownership level down. Third and most important thing we are looking for is the ability to punch out hitters and very few are better in the majors than Sale in that category. Last season Sale had a K% of 32.1% and a K/9 of 11.82. In his only start this season Sale had eight strikeouts in seven innings of work against a team that really doesn’t strikeout that often. I expect him to have similar strikeout numbers today and for him to reach well over 45 FanDuel points.
