1. Ruth Ozeki, an award-winning writer, filmmaker, and Zen Buddhist Priest, talks about her new novel A Tale for the Time Being, a story that links a person in California to a person in Japan through the tragedy of an earthquake and tsunami.
2.UC Berkeley-trained architect Emily Pilloton explains why she left a traditional design job to start Studio H, an in-school design/build class for 8th-11th grade students. First launched in Bertie County, NC and now based at Realm Charter School in Berkeley, Studio H students apply their core subject learning to design and build audacious and socially transformative projects.
3. Jamie Henn, Communication Director and Co-founder of 350.org, explains how they consider themselves a world-wide movement, rather than an organization, trying to solve climate change through online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions. They’re active in 188 countries. They’re currently fighting the Keystone XL Pipeline and fracking, and have started a fossil fuel divestment campaign.
