While doing press for his upcoming thriller Kill the Messenger, Jeremy Renner offered a few updates on his upcoming projects Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mission: Impossible 5 and the sequel to 2012's The Bourne Legacy in an interview with Access Hollywood.
When asked about Avengers: Age of Ultron, which recently wrapped production, Jeremy Renner hints that everything will be bigger in the sequel, without giving away any specific plot details.
"I think everything that worked in the first one is exponentially going to be better in this one. I think the comedic relief, I think the action, is going to be bigger. There is more time spent with all of the Avengers together as a unit on and off the clock, if you will, which is actually really fun. A lot of secrets are revealed and more secrets are posed."
Jeremy Renner plays Hawkeye in Avengers: Age of Ultron, who is one of the only characters that doesn't have any super powers, along with Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow. The actor revealed that this aspect of his character is what drew him into the role in the first place.
"He never did [have superpowers], nor has Black Widow; they just have a high skill-set. That's why I wanted to play Hawkeye anyway. I could relate to that, I could understand a guy who has a high skill-set, I get it. But I could never [do] like [Chris] Hemsworth does [as Thor], flying around with a hammer and sell that. But he can do it, I can't."
When asked about Mission: Impossible 5, which is currently in production, the actor admitted that it will be difficult to top the Burj Khalifa scenes in the last Mission: Impossible movie, but they have already shot two major action sequences.
"We've got Christopher McQuarrie directing, and he wrote as well. He ended up writing a little bit on the last one. It's hard to go bigger than the Burj Khalifa thing from Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, but I know they're going to create great action sequences. I know they've done one or two so far. We're still in the middle of writing and shooting as we go. Tom [Cruise] knows what he's doing in that world and I'm just there to sort of follow along and bring what I can bring to every moment."
We reported earlier this month that Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass are coming back for a new Jason Bourne movie, which Universal plans on moving forward with before a sequel to Jeremy Renner's The Bourne Legacy. When asked if he wants to star in a movie alongside Matt Damon's Jason Bourne, Jeremy Renner had this to say.
"That's my hope. That's my dream. Will it happen? I do not know, but the last I heard is that Paul and Matt have cracked an idea, a reason to continue the Bourne series. We're still working on the Aaron Cross section of that and the worlds will definitely - hopefully - collide and they're still a part of each other. I think it makes it really exciting that I think even Universal is sort of like 'this is really fantastic news' because now it's kind of like the Marvel model where they have two standalones and then come back and meet each other."
