Heat, cold, radiation, atmospheric pressure, and potential alien encounters aside, let's see which planet you would be best suited towards based on your astrological sign. Granted, there's no replacing good old NASA training, but in case space travel improves dramatically and it all becomes the norm, choosing your residence based on your ruling planet might suit your lifestyle!

Full disclosure, you probably shouldn't actually live on any planet other than Earth since it's pretty much impossible (despite what The Martian might lead you to believe). But, if Mark Watney's journey taught me anything, it's that nothing is impossible and it's really hard to grow potatoes on Mars.

Mercury

Astrological sign: Gemini, Virgo
Living conditions: Extremely hot and bright, the tiny planet of Mercury has the shortest orbital period in the solar system. But since it also has a slow rotation, every year on Mercury consists of only three days. Both signs are fiercely independent and would thrive on a planet where they have the time and space to really get things done. That means for you Geminis and Virgos, there's plenty of hours in a day to get everything done.

Venus

Astrological sign: Taurus, Libra
Living conditions: Might be the most inhospitable. It has the hottest temperatures and a carbon dioxide atmosphere and insanely heavy atmospheric pressure. However, Venus is known as the planet of love and creativity. Tauruses and Libras are both signs which are patient, generous, and persistent, so giving the harsh conditions of Venus a chance sounds like it could be worthwhile of their time if it is as creatively inspiring as they say.

Mars

Astrological sign: Aries
Living conditions: Rocky planet but much less dense than Earth and has less gravity than Earth. Thin atmosphere (Almost entirely carbon dioxide) it's really cold and radiation is much higher.

Jupiter

Astrological sign: Sagittarius
Living conditions: Unfortunately, there's not much of a surface in the following gas giants. Jupiter is helium and hydrogen. Strongest magnetic field in the solar system. High temperatures and density in the clouds. A day on Jupiter is only 9.9 hours long, meaning it has the shortest day in the solar system. Given the oftentimes independent and adventurous mindsets of Sagittariuses, exploring the unknowns of a gas giant sounds like a great time.

Saturn

Astrological sign: Capricorn
Living conditions: Like Jupiter, Saturn is a gas giant and shares a lot of similarities with it's neighboring planet. You know, mostly helium and hydrogen. Well, there's also ammonia ice, winds up to 994 mph, and powerful bolts of lightning to keep all of the Capricorns occupied. The ambitious and resourceful Capricorn will relish at the opportunity to try surviving in such harsh conditions.

Uranus

Astrological sign: Aquarius
Living conditions: One of the two ice giants, we don't know too much about Uranus. At a staggering 2.8 billion kilometers away from the sun, Uranus is the coldest planet in the solar system. Uranus is also tilted at 98 degrees, so each of the planet's poles are facing the sun for 42 years at a time. This decades long night/day split works for the rebellious, stubborn, and spirited Aquarius. You could live through day or night for as long as you wanted, if you were willing to travel a bit for it!

Neptune

Astrological sign: Pisces
Living conditions: Like Uranus, Neptune is a mysterious ice giant with little data on the planet. Sharing many similar properties with the planet above, Neptune is a huge planet with about 15 times the mass of Earth. Seriously, baby got mass. Neptune also has the most intense weather in the solar system with winds reaching up to 1,305 mph and storms lasting from months to even years! As a sign that is know for being compassionate and dependent, you might want to bring along a partner to brave these harsh weather conditions with you.

Pluto

Astrological sign: Scorpio
Living conditions: Now labeled a "dwarf planet," Pluto lost its planetary status in 2006, but was given the new name as kind of a consolation prize. Only about two-thirds as wide as Earth's moon, Pluto is tiny and shrouded in mystery. Similarly, Scorpios are oftentimes the most misunderstood of the astrological signs. Being on such a small planet would be great for Scorpios, who prefer to be in control of the situation and stick to what they know. Less ground to cover, less chance of things getting out of hand.

The Sun

Astrological sign: Leo
Living conditions: Okay, the Sun isn't a planet, but that's just the way it works! The living conditions here would be hot and probably more impossible than any of these other impossible planets. But, as a headstrong Leo, you don't see the impossible as impossible. Plus, your ruling planet affects every other celestial body in the solar system so everything is prime real estate for you.

The Moon

Astrological sign: Cancer
Living conditions: No atmosphere, no weather, and no water, living in a perpetual vacuum would be a challenging feat (although probably with a higher survival rate than most of these other planets). But for the Cancer who leans towards comfort and security of familiar places and faces, having a front row seat of our home planet would be a perfect living situation.

While most of us likely won't make it out into space anytime soon, we can join in on someone else's journey! To see how someone could hypothetically survive on a celestial body (and with a lot more science backing up their claims), check out Mark Watney's journey in Ridley Scott's upcoming film The Martian.
