Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Eleven might have been a remake, but it was instantly a classic among the casino-raiding, bad guy-riddled adventures of cinema. With a cast including A-listers such as George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, the film mainly relies on pure fun, and its success spawned an entire trilogy with Ocean's Twelve in 2004 and Ocean's Thirteen in 2007.

Two years later, the director had declared to Esquire he was done with making movies:

"I'm 45 now. When I turn 51, that'll be 25 years. And that's a lot of time to do one thing. And it'll be, like, 30 movies. And that's enough. I don't want to have that falloff. I want to go out with Abbey Road."

His retirement didn't last long, as he's been involved as much in producing movies as in directing TV shows, but he still hadn't directed a feature film since 2013's Side Effects. Now, he's actually back at the helm, and you're not getting any points if you've guessed the theme: That's right, Soderbergh's upcoming Logan Lucky will be a heist movie.

What's Logan Lucky About?

There are no official pictures or trailer for Logan Lucky, which is aiming for an October 13, 2017 release, but what we do know about the plot is quite exciting: Two brothers plan their biggest heist during a NASCAR race at at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

With the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing partnering with Soderbergh on the film, Zane Stoddard, vice president of entertainment marketing and content development, has expressed his enthusiasm for the project:

"It's a big-hearted, fun story that showcases NASCAR and Charlotte Motor Speedway as the world-class sports entertainment property and venue that they are, much like the Bellagio in Steven's Ocean's Eleven."

Why Can We Already Tell It's Going To Be Big?

If the prospect of an enormous robbery being pulled off during a car race under the direction of Soderbergh isn't already exciting to you, let's take a look at the cast.

Channing Tatum is headlining this impressive roster, and he's already got NASCAR experience under his belt: In 2014, he served as grand marshal for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pocono 400 with Jonah Hill. He's joined by Adam Driver, who's certainly looking for a refreshing experience in between two Star Wars movies, and has proved time and again the extent of his talent.

Daniel Craig, although allergic to his turn as the iconic British spy in the latest James Bond movies, was apparently not too traumatized by the action genre and has been spotted on set with bulging muscles and tattoos. Add to that today's news that Marvel's Bucky a.k.a. Winter Soldier, Sebastian Stan, has joined the cast, and you've already got four reasons to see Logan Lucky.

On the ladies' side, the casting agents haven't held back either: Hilary Swank will bring some of her Million Dollar Baby punch, and Katherine Heigl is finally bouncing back after her decade-long feud with Seth Rogen continued to make headlines.

The Girlfriend Experience's breakout star Riley Keough is on board too, as well as Inherent Vice's Katherine Waterston who's recently wrapped Alien: Covenant. Now all we need to do is to cross fingers and hope Logan Lucky lives up to these crazy high expectations!
