The adaptation of Stephen King’s book, The Dark Tower, will reach the cinema halls in July. Matthew McConaughey revealed the reasons why he chose Nikolaj Arcel’s project over Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Doctor Strange.
The 47-year-old Oscar winner has been very enthusiastic about working in The Dark Tower from the starting of the project. He even declined the opportunity with Marvel Cinematic Universe to work in the ambitious live-action adaptation. He was approached for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Doctor Strange but he chose the science fantasy movie instead.
No skepticism entertained, almost every top star in Hollywood wants to work with MCU. But it seems McConaughey does not mind walking away from MCU for projects like The Dark Tower. Well, it is quite intriguing. But the actor has an explanation for it.
Reasons for Picking The Dark Tower over Other Movies
According to McConaughey, Guardians of the Galaxy is already a success. The actor also said that “now we’ve got room to make a colorful part for another big-name actor.”
Speaking about The Dark Tower, he added that he likes the movie’s director, and the script is also so well written. McConaughey also thinks that the moviegoers are going to love the movie. He has revealed that he enjoyed playing his part in the movie. He felt as if he was the Devil who was enjoying exposing hypocrisies.
The actor has also communicated that it is a beautiful thriller and the story is set in an alternate universe. Viewers will see that the gunslinger preferred pistol as a weapon in The Dark Tower and not a lightsaber, reports Comic Book.
Final Trailer Release Date
Fans are expecting that the movie makers would release some footage soon. They have so far only got to see a leaked teaser trailer. In addition to this, the movie will release the final trailer early this year.
The Dark Tower reportedly pushed back the release from Feb. 17, 2017, to July 28, 2017.
