Here are three possible ways, Star Wars: Episode 9 director Colin Trevorrow could portray late Carrie Fisher on screen:

Making Changes In Star Wars: Episode 9 Storyline

After the release of Star Wars: Episode 8, there is a possibility that the second installment will lay the foundation for a new storyline. This new storyline might make new changes and reduce the role of, Carrie Fisher. In this way, her character Princess Leia might be brought back to the screen.

According to Independent, the story may have progressed to a place where General Leia does not take an active role in proceedings. And that she only needs to be mentioned by other characters. This could also help in some way.

Use of Unused footage And Dialogues Of Carrie Fisher

The other way, Princess aka General Leia Organa could be brought back in Star Wars: Episode 9 is by using the unused footage and dialogues of her, reports Independent.

For instance, the website adds this was done for ‘The Sopranos’. In order to quickly write out Tony Soprano’s mother this technique was used; as actress Nancy Marchand died while the show was on hiatus.

Use Of CGI Technique In Star Wars: Episode 9

CGI technique that is Computer Generated Imagery was used in the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to re-create General Leia Organa on screen.

According to Independent, this similar technique might be re-used for the Star Wars: Episode 9. It further adds that this option would make the most sense narrative-wise. But it also adds that it would do a disservice to Carrie Fisher’s great personality, which is larger than any digital replica could reproduce.
