After the Indian Government’s controversial decision to opt out Bollywood actor Amir Khan as a brand ambassador of Incredible India, following the actor’s remarks on growing intolerance in the country, now it’s eCommerce giant Snapdeal chooses to not renew its contract with Amir Khan as brand ambassador.

Amir Khan’s endorsement deal with Snapdeal ended on January 31 2016 and the company has decided not to replace the actor with any other celebrity, according to The Hindu. Snapdeal’s decision may not have anything to do with Khan’s previous comments on intolerance but many are questioning the timing of the incident.

“We would not like to comment on this… wait till next week and you will hear something,” said a Snapdeal spokeperson.

Snapdeal announced its deal almost after a month Incredible India dropped the actor as its brand ambassador. Incredible India, the signature advertising campaign of tourism ministry signed its contract with Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra.

According to DNA, Khan said in a event, his wife Kiran Rao had asked to move out of the country, as she is feels insecure for the safety their children “in the climate of insecurity.”

After the remarks came over news, many netizens vented their disappointment over the social media platforms and many people deleted Snapdeal’s app to show to protest against the company.

Moreover, after the controversy broke ecommerce giant Snapdeal had stopped telecasting Khan in its print, “Dil KI Deal”over television and digital print campaign.

“I think the brand is being harsh on its brand ambassador,” said Prathap Suthan, managing partner of Bang In The Middle, a Gurgaon-based advertising agency.

“Snapdeal is neither connected nor plays a role in comments made by Aamir Khan in his personal capacity. Snapdeal is a proud Indian company built by passionate young Indians focused on building an inclusive digital India,” said the spokeperson of Snapdeal on November 25.
