Netflix is bent on pushing its programming to offer a much diversified selection for its subscribers. The latest offering from the streaming site is this epic adventure, “Marco Polo,” and its full season will be released on Dec. 12, 2014. To prepare for its big debut, Netflix has come out with a teaser for this. Read on for the details.

The epic trailer to “Marco Polo” shows stunning imagery to rival that of “Game of Thrones” on HBO or “Spartacus” from Starz. It reveals breathtaking locations and pulse-inducing action sequences, with lots of blood, gore and sex scenes. The images are just as exciting as the characters in the story, as revealed in the short video.

The show is based on the story of the famous explorer Marco Polo and takes place during the 13th century, amidst the court of Kublai Khan in China. The series features Lorenzo Richelmy in the title role. The actor is from Italy.  Zhu Zhu, who will play Kokachin, Marco’s love interest, will join him. The Beijing-born actress is best known for the movie “Cloud Atlas.”

Other stars of the series include Joan Chen as Empress Chabi, Olivia Cheng as Mei Lin, Tom Wu as Hundred Eyes, Remy Hii as Prince Jingim, Uli Latukefu as Byamba, Claudia Kim as Khutulun, Chian Han as Jia Sidao and Benedict Wong as Kublai Khan.

“Marco Polo” is from John Fusco with Harvey Weinstein as the executive producer. “Game of Thrones” director, Dan Minahan, also came aboard to do two episodes of the 10-episode offering, while other directors included Espen Sandberg and Joachim Ronning.
