The possible director of Suicide Squad 2 is Mel Gibson and one can admit that they have never seen this coming. Read ahead about the details of the sequel’s potential completion in the future.

There is no doubt that Suicide Squad made 2016 a memorable one. It was one the many superhero films that premiered last year. Unfortunately, it did not give much impact, especially to those who expected a lot out of the said movie.

Business-wise, the film did an excellent performance earning $745 million worldwide, reports Cinema Blend. But, constructive criticisms from the reviews proved that it followed Batman V Superman‘s path. Despite this, what the original film earned is enough to proceed with the sequel.

Mel Gibson Eyed To Direct Suicide Squad 2

The movie may have disappointed many moviegoers. But Warner Brothers seems to think that Mel Gibson can redeem the said film. Reports revealed that the entertainment company eyes Gibson as the sequel’s director.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, they are courting the 61-year-old actor to direct. But it remains a mystery if the deal is closed. It was since they are still in the early phase of discussion.

Apparently, Gibson still wishes to familiarize the material source (comics). On the other hand, while they are in the process, WB is also eyeing for Daniel Espinosa. Fans knew the 39-year-old film director for his work on Child 44.

The original Suicide Squad director will still be around for DC Extended Universe. He will be the one to helm Gotham City Sirens. Whoever takes over his former position remains a mystery.

Gibson, who is now an Award winning director, is receiving lots of offers. His image may have suffered due to several controversies. But his directorial work resulted in a major turnaround for his career.

His credits include Apocalypto, Braveheart, and Passion of the Christ. Gibson also made appearances in The Expendables 3 and Blood Father. The latest film he directed, Hacksaw Ridge, received awesome awards and great reviews.

But as good as this may sound, Gibson once called Batman V Superman “a piece of shi*.” Therefore, it would be an irony if he says yes to this project. In the end, fans will soon find out how this deal goes. Aside from Suicide Squad 2, Mel Gibson also received offers from Daddy’s Home 2 and an indie film titled Dragged Across Concrete.
