The crime procedural drama Bones is currently airing its twelfth and final season. The long-running chapter is finally coming to its end officially. The showrunner revealed that it was nowhere planned to end it like that and the entire team was terribly update with the network’s decision.

Executive producer Hart Hanson stated that “We were told it was our last year. It wasn’t that we called the network and said, ‘We’d like to finish now.’ I’m not sure anybody is terribly upset or terribly shocked that it would be the last year.” His statement came at Television Critics Association’s press tour recently. Indeed, Bones was not planned to reach its finale in Season 12. However, it will surely reach get a closure in this season’s finale. Emily Deschanel, who is starred as Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan on the show, noted that the series has a wonderful run.
Deschanel and co-star David Boreanaz do not see any hope for recurring characters in future. Furthermore, they both agree to the fact that it’s quite emotional to bid adieu after airing the series for 12 long years. The final season is packed with several emotional and nostalgic moments. It also features the guest appearance of veteran actors Ed Asner and Hal Holbrook.
Series Critical Reception
The series has garnered generally positive reviews throughout the seasons. However, it was always praised for its strong portrayal of characters and their strengths. It has been nominated for several awards and has received two Genesis Awards.
Bones Season 12 next episode is titled as The New Tricks in the Old Dogs. It will go on air on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox. Check out the season promo here.
