Fans are feverishly waiting for Season 4 of “The Blacklist” and for a reason. After the shocking Season 3 finale that changed the entire history of the show, what can viewers expect from Raymond Reddington (James Spader) and Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone)? The show creator and executive producer, Jon Bokenkamp, shares that the former criminal mastermind will remain in Liz’s side regardless of what she has done in the past.
(Warning: Season 3 Finale Spoilers Ahead)
“I can’t imagine him abandoning Liz,” the screenwriter said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “She hurt him, but we often hurt the people we love. The fact he’s been hurt isn’t nearly enough for him to walk away.”
To recap, the previous season’s finale saw the lead character, Liz, rising from the dead. It also saw Red using all his resources to track down and exact revenge on Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), the villain responsible for ruining Liz’s wedding to Tom and ending the life of the former FBI agent.
However, it turned out that Liz was very much alive but not never in the way of danger. After meeting up with her fiancee and baby in Cuba, Liz found herself kidnapped by Kirk who, it turns out, was Constantine Rostova, Liz’s father.
It was a crazy episode that tries to build up an even crazier Season 4 ahead. According to reports, the cast is now ready to reconvene in New York to start filming by July 20.
But while the mystery of Kirk has been revealed, there are still plenty of questions that need to be explored about the character in Season 4. One of which is why Constantine had to take Liz by force instead of simply reaching out to her.
Liz will also have to decide who to trust: Red, who has always looked out for her, or her own father, who took her family away from her? Find out when the new season of “The Blacklist” airs on Sep. 22 on NBC.
