Bates Motel, the psychological drama series, is making a comeback very soon with its fifth season. This season is very special as singer and artist Rihanna will play the role of Marion Crane, famously played by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock‘s Psycho. The series is a contemporary prequel to the 1960s film.
Bates Motel Season 5 Spoilers & Rihanna’s Entry
Rihanna appeared at the end of the montage in the latest trailer for Bates Motel season 5. She asks Norman Bates for a room. It will be the most recent of the many acting roles she has tackled recently. In Hitchcock‘s Psycho, Norman kills Marion in the terrible and infamous shower scene. (Via Billboard)
During the film sequence, Marion is on the run after stealing money from her boss to start a new life with her boyfriend. However, she makes a bigger mistake by staying at Bates Motel which turns fatal for her.
Marion Crane makes a way into Norman Bates’ (Freddie Highmore) life at the point when he is extremely vulnerable. Showrunner Kerry Ehrin stated that “He’s in a very fragile and lonely place, and Marion Crane is a charismatic woman, she’s super present when she’s with him and she’s very attractive — all those things are exactly what he needs right at this moment.”
Rihanna’s character has an important role in A&E’s series. She arrives 18 months after the death of Norma, whose presence is still crucial to Norman. The character has a multi-episode arc and with some expectations which supposedly may be fulfilled. The singer will also be seen in several big projects later this year which includes Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and Ocean’s Eight.
Storyline Updates
Season 5 will begin almost two years later, with Norman living a double life. He leads a happy life in public but keeps struggling on the personal end. His violent behavior is taking a toll on him as he delves into complete psychosis. Dylan Massett (Max Thierot) and Emma Decody (Olivia Cooke) will eventually figure out Norman’s insanity.
Bates Motel season 5 is the fifth and final season of the series. It will begin on Feb. 20 at 10 p.m. ET. In the meantime, fans can check out the recent trailer here. Fans are curiously looking forward to the season 5 storyline and its execution.
