The true crime anthology television series American Crime Story Season 2 is delayed until 2018. According to reports, it is due to the source material. However, Season 3 won’t take much long and will air six months after season 2.
American Crime Story: Katrina Season 2 Premiere, Spoilers & Major Updates
FX Networks CEO John Landgraf mentioned that “They’re going to have a long hiatus, and then we’re going to get back on cycle. They’re going to air within about six months of each other.” However, he denied all the reports about swapping of the seasons, It was since that they will shoot Season 3 Versace first. (Via Variety)
Season 3 Versace will explore the 1997 murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace. It is loosely based on the book Vulgar Favors from Vanity Fair writer Maureen Orth. As far as the delay, Landgraf dropped hints about the lack of material and source for Season 2. He also talked about the climate challenges of hurricanes while filming in New Orleans. He dropped these major announcements during the Television Critics Association press tour.
Katrina is a follow-up of super successful first part American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson. It featured the murder trial of O. J. Simpson. It was also based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book The Run of His Life: The People v. O. J. Simpson.
Season 1 Critical Reception
American Crime Story has been critically acclaimed and has received wonderful reviews. The crime series has been praised for most of the performances, directing and writing. Also, it has already has been nominated in various categories and has won several awards already.
In addition to this, season 1 featured Cuba Gooding Jr., Sarah Paulson, John Travolta, Courtney B. Vance and Kenneth Choi in important roles. Furthermore, American Crime Story: Katrina isn’t returning on FX until 2018. The show has yet to reveal the premiere dates for the upcoming season.
