As The X-Files revival series comes to an end, the show circles back to the season premiere episode, bookending the season in mythology instead of a monster of the week episode with the return of Joel McHale as Tad O’Malley. After the events of last week, mythology is a welcome change for the show. Miller and Einstein (Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose) return to help Scully (Gillian Anderson) with a case of a mysterious illness as Mulder (David Duchovny) takes on his own search for answers.
