Aquaman only had four official cast members before Jan. 31, but it may have picked up two important ones within 24 hours. Not long after the Hollywood Reporter revealed that Nicole Kidman was in talks to play Aquaman's mother, it broke that The Get Down's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is set to become the notorious Black Manta.
This isn't the first time Kidman has been rumored to play the mother of a Justice League member. However, early rumors that Kidman would play Queen Hippolyta in Wonder Woman didn't pan out, leaving Connie Nielsen to take the role. Since then, Kidman has received her fourth Oscar nomination for Lion, and may well end up in the DCEU and in her first superhero movie since Batman Forever after all.
Kidman would go from being Batman's love interest to Aquaman's mother 23 years later.
