Bank-related internet fraud is the fastest-growing crime in the world. Criminals trick customers into disclosing private information that they use to empty their unsuspecting victims’ bank accounts. But just how sophisticated can tech-savvy criminals get? Carte Blanche investigates the complexities of the latest “phishing trip”.

Crime-fighting drones

Remote controlled drones are all the rage. In Alaska, drones are used to count sea lions and in the USA they monitor drug trafficking across borders. Now the City of Cape Town wants to get in on the act and use drones for drug busts, search and rescue operations and agricultural mapping. But the Civil Aviation Authority isn’t giving the project lift off. Carte Blanche investigates.

Sperm Smuggling

Wives of Palestinian political prisoners serving long-term sentences in Israeli prisons have extremely limited contact with their husbands. Carte Blanche meets the women who have conceived children after their husband’s sperm was smuggled out of these jails in a show of defiance to the Israeli occupation.
