New Delhi, India, June 28, 2013: Xtreme Gaming, India’s premier gaming marketing and eSports management company, recently concluded the 18th edition of India’s largest gaming festival, BYOC 2013, held between June 21 – 23, 2013, at the Pacific Mall in New Delhi. With over 5000 attendees, the event ran continuously for 60 hours and was attended by gamers from all across the country. Presented by ASUS and NVIDIA, this year’s BYOC was the biggest-ever edition of the eSports Tournament and Gaming Exhibition in India where the vendors showcased their latest gaming hardware as well as powered 20 machines in the pro tournaments section with their high end hardware.

BYOC is a well-established gaming event taking place in New Delhi since 2007. An abbreviation for “Bring Your Own Computer,” BYOC has had 17 successful editions so far where gamers bring their own computers and consoles to connect over a single network (LAN) and play multi-player games; basically, an enormous LAN Party with tournaments and activities such as modding, over-clocking, etc. BYOC provides the perfect platform for gamers of all ages, and from all across India, to connect and socialize with each other, while having fun and winning loads of prizes and goodies. The gamers played on their own PCs for the preliminary rounds and on qualifying; they competed in the GeForce GTX Tournament Zone managed by ASUS and NVIDIA to play on machines powered by their high-end hardware.

ASUS had three machines on demo with its latest TUF and Republic of Gamers motherboards andone for the latest 4th Generation Intel Core processors. One deployed the TUF series Sabertooth X79 motherboard, another was a small form factor gaming PC with H87I-Plus mini-ITX motherboardwhile the third one had the Rampage IVGenemicroATX motherboard. Along with these, they also showcased their various graphics cards like GTX TITAN, GTX 780, GTX 770, GTX 660Ti, GTX 650Ti Boost and GTX 670 DirectCU Mini – the small form factor GeForce GTX 670 graphics card from ASUS for mini-ITX/microATX gaming PCs. Most of these cards also utilize ASUS DirectCUII thermal design which utilizes copper heat pipes in direct contact with the GPU so heat is dissipated efficiently, delivering a 20% cooler and vastly quieter performance than reference cards.

At the event, NVIDIA showcased its latest line of GeForce GTX 780 and GTX 770 graphic cards which provide speedy frame rates and ‘smooth’ visuals for the next generation of PC gaming titles. NVIDIA also demonstrated their GeForce Experience application, which optimizes graphics settings in games by connecting to NVIDIA’s cloud datacenter to download optimal game settings tailored to the user’s hardware configuration (GPU, CPU and monitor resolutions). Optimal settings maximize image quality while maintaining great performance for the user. A built-in interactive screenshot viewer also helps users to learn more about each setting and its benefits while the application also automatically notifies users of new driver releases from NVIDIA. New drivers improve game performance, add new features, and fix bugs. With a single click, users are now able to update the driver directly, without any of the complexity involved.

The organizers from Xtreme Gaming had to double up their LAN capacity this year, which resulted in twice the number of footfalls compared to last year and the event was almost sold off even before it started. The titles for the BYOC 2013 tournament were Counter-Strike 1.6 (Pro), Counter-Strike 1.6 (Semi-Pro), Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and DOTA 2, FIFA 13, amongst others. The event was attended by 5000 gaming freaks including 1000 participating gamers from all over the country, including tier-2 cities and smaller towns like Bhopal, Kutch, Varanasi, Jaisalmer, Kota, Hubli, etc. Cash prizes and gaming products were distributed amongst the winners and runner ups of all the tournaments.

Gaming industry in India is estimated to have jumped to $830 million in 2012, up from $167 million in 2008 at a CAGR of 49% and the success of the event further confirmed the belief that gaming culture in India is growing exponentially.
