Adventure stories are best told first-hand and with a hefty dose of authenticity. At MULTIPLICITY, harrowing stories from around the globe are delivered up close and personal by eight world-class athletes, explorers and outdoor personalities. Combining photography, video and top-shelf storytelling, MULTIPLICITY has quickly become the hottest event at the World Ski & Snowboard Festival at Whistler Blackcomb.

WHEN: Sunday, April 9th 2017 7:00 PM
WHERE: The Whistler Conference Centre, part of the World Ski & Snowboard Festival
TICKETS: Now available at wssf.com

“I was blown away,” says bestselling author and adventurer Bruce Kirkby. “MULTIPLICITY is a beautiful reminder–in this era of distraction, hype, texts and tweets—that a good, simple story is still king. Especially the bare-knuckled, whiskey-scented, gut-wrenching, mind-scrambling, tear-laced campfire variety.

A flagship fundraiser for the Spearhead Huts Project, the event has been described as “a TED Talk on adrenalin,” and “the most inspiring night of the year.” Kirkby, the MULTIPLICITY keynote speaker last year calls it “the biggest, brightest story- telling gathering of its kind. Grab yourself a seat before they’re gone.”

The star-studded 2017 line-up features heroes big and small, from Brett Tippie’s larger-than-life mountain bike career and Ken Achenbach’s long, strange 30-year love affair with all things snowboard. Former NatGeo Adventurer of the Year, Colin Angus takes us on a man-made, hand-made rowboat epic to Alaska, while Seattle-based National Geographic photographer Aaron Huey and his seven-year-old son Hawkeye reveal a cool father-son journey from blanket forts to Instagram fame.

One of Canada’s best female climbers, Leslie Timms leads us through her sharp-end-of-the-rope exploits and snowboarder/ activist Tamo Campos sheds some light on what’s happening in the real world.

Sherry McConkey opens up about carrying on a family legacy with the power of positivity, and legendary Canadian adventurer Jon Turk brings us into his adventure-packed polar expedition to circumnavigate Ellesmere Island. Hosted by Mountain Life editor and emcee extraordinaire Feet Banks, MULTIPLICITY is one hell of a good ride.

“Every year this event keeps getting better and better. People are captivated by these presenters that are telling some really inspirational life stories live on stage. So many people have told me that it’s one of the most inspirational events they’ve ever been to, which is totally true.” —Todd Lawson, event producer

About the Spearhead Huts Committee

The Spearhead Huts Committee is comprised of several different interest groups and clubs all sharing a common goal—to create a world-class backcountry hut system in Garibaldi Provincial Park. The shared objectives of the hut system itself are to increase the comfort and safety of backcountry travelers, minimize environmental impact on the area, leave a lasting legacy for passionate local skiers who have lost their lives in the mountains, and enable other backcountry enthusiasts to experience this outstanding region.
