I would like to point out that on the cover of this issue are two iconic American muscle cars powered by turbocharged four-cylinder engines that achieve 30 mpg (or more) on the highway. We also profile Jaguar’s first SUV and Honda’s second-generation pickup truck, and we gossip about Mercedes-Benz’s possible entry into the light truck category—with help from Nissan.

It’s been challenging to get to this pole position, but we’re used to breaking ground. “Don’t come to us; we’ll come to you” has been our mantra since the first issue of Motor Trend hit a mailbox. Over the years we added traditional TV and radio shows before jumping online in the late ’90s. We added internet video in the early aughts and now have an award-winning podcast and the largest social media footprint of any automotive media brand.
