Motorcycle enthusiasts flocked to Metro Manila’s motorcycle mecca, Caloocan City, to join in the festivities of the 1st Caloocan Motorcycle Festival. The festival was presented by Yamaha Motor Philippines with the support of the local government of Caloocan under the auspices of Mayor Oscar Malapitan.
It was a full day of activities with events lined up for interested participants. Yamaha held the challenging Gymkhana competition, featuring the newest addition to their lineup the Yamaha TFX. The competition attracted riders of all skill levels and they were tested by the tough layout of the course.
For those interested in learning how to ride, the Yamaha Safe Riding Science for Women gave free sessions to willing participants. Incorporating a detailed classroom discussion and an expansive practical tutorial, participants were given a proper introduction to riding which is rarely available to most people.
The custom bike show attracted entries from across the Metro and a few from the connecting provinces. Filipino ingenuity and creativity was in full display. With awards for Best Scooter, Best Underbone on the line as well as special awards for paint and showmanship, the contestants held nothing back with their entries which made judging the winners pretty tough.
The festivities culminated in the evening as the crowd was entertained by performances by DJ Nina, Acoustic Balladeer TJ Monterde, Ella Cruz and Rico Blanco. Hosted by Rico Robles, the party brought to a rousing conclusion a truly epic event. Kudos to Caloocan City and to Yamaha for a truly unique experience.
