Job Description and Requirements

This position is responsible for owning the product lifecycle from beginning to end, thru all sales channels. This position will be responsible for increasing conversion, bolstering average order size and driving bottom line revenue.

Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in merchandising through catalogs and/or e-commerce platforms is highly preferred as is strong overall knowledge of motorcycle parts and accessories.

Key Areas of Responsibility

             Vendor Relations

              Initial negotiations (agreements, initial pricing, coop, initial buys)

              Product Merchandising – Web, Catalog, Retail & Events

              Advertising opportunities

              Vendor sales analysis (running and analyzing sales reports and then acting on the report)

              Market trends

              New vendors and new products

              Vendor and SKU rationalization

              Retail pricing

              Product margins

             On Camera Video Content

 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

             Define new and existing product development needs to increase sales and capture market share through the process of contacting vendors, reviewing product lines, and analyzing performance

              Collaborate with the Marketing and E-commerce departments for layout, design, and placement of product in catalogs, direct mail pieces, website presentations, and E-Commerce opportunities

              Coordinate with the team and Inventory Department on sales forecasting, initial delivery information, product life cycles, and service level strategies

              Identify partnering opportunities for co-op advertising or promotions of product lines

              Serve as a liaison between vendors and staff, helping with training classes for sales, customer
service, and technical support staff to improve product knowledge

              Assist the retail showrooms and event staff with merchandising layouts and product assortment
selection to maximize sales

              Review product line pricing to insure that margins are in line with the company goals and
competitive with the current market

              Attend trade shows, and major motorcycle events to keep informed on current trends along
with reading periodicals, catalogs and other sources

              Identify customer needs by reviewing market research material to anticipate competition and market trends while translating consumer attitudes for new and current products

              Lead the team in the planning and coordination of new product launch

              Coordinate and develop marketing, sales, and financial plans for the assigned product lines

              Develop mark down exit strategy to move dead and excess inventory.

Educational and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Other Special Requirements

              Effective communication and negotiation skills

              Experience in merchandising through catalogs and/or e-commerce platforms is highly preferred

              Strong overall knowledge of motorcycle parts and accessories is preferred

              Experience in merchandising through catalogs and/or e-commerce platforms is preferred

              Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Outlook, and database software packages

              Effective written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to influence others

              Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task under time sensitive deadlines

              Demonstrated analytical skills, knowledge of merchandising concepts, and the ability to analyze
key business indicators
