General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialisation General Science.

UPSC Prelims Syllabus for CSAT Paper II-(200 marks) Duration: Two hours

Comprehension

Interpersonal skills including communication skills;

Logical reasoning and analytical ability

Decision-making and problem-solving

General mental ability

Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. – Class X level)

2) Build a realistic Study Plan

Once you know the syllabus, the first step towards the IAS Exam preparation is to prepare a realistic timetable and don’t go strict on it as you would not be able to achieve and it would turn to be very difficult over a period of time.

It is recommended to set a goal and try achieving in terms of month, week or day as this would give you the possibility to manage your time in the long run. Geography: Focus more on physical geography and maps related questions. Get yourself well-acquainted with maps and buy a good Atlas.

General Science:  Covers a major portion, be well-versed with the topics of general science and referring a standard guidebook would be sufficient.

Current affairs: Make sure to cover the important news daily through a standard newspaper not necessary to read the entire newspaper, just cover the major happenings in and around Indian.

General awareness: Refer any good guide book or year book for this.

6) Know when to give up

Don’t stick to a topic for a long time as if you are stuck on a particular topic you could end up compromising on your study time as well as on other topics. To avoid such situations it is better that you understand when to give up and move on to other topic or subject.

7) Take A Break!

Don’t compromise on your health regime; take small breaks during your study time as it will revive your mind and body and if you have to face the remaining part of your preparations then taking a small break is necessary and during break time also try to recall whatever you have grasped till them.

8) Stick to the Plan

Never back down from your study plan! During the preparation process you will find yourself in many hurdles and all you have learn is to how come over the hurdles and stick to the study plan.
