Happy July! And you know what that means…it’s time for another Monthly Challenge! I just shared how I blitzed through our bedrooms last month (along with how I attacked ALL of the school paperwork).  Let’s just say, it feels SO good to have those rooms clean and organized.

I also did pretty well with my self-care last month. I enjoyed a facial in the Azores, had a hair appointment, and carved out time most mornings to take Olivia for a walk. How was your June?

For this month we’re going to be focusing on moving and purging!

Health – Move More

This month my challenge for you is to move more! And if you haven’t yet signed up for my upcoming Fitness Challenge – be sure to do so today!

Simple Tips: To Move More!

Make it fun! Go on a hike, walk your dog, take a pilates or paddleboarding class…or whatever you enjoy.

Keep track of it. Jot down your physical activity as a form of accountability.

Set a weekly goal for your activity. (Ex. exercise four times per week. Focus on weekly goals rather than daily, this allows for more flexibility and increases your ability to meet your goal each week.)

Work activity into your day. Find ways to take more steps, carry more things, or move a little faster. Exercise does not have to be at they gym or a grueling 45 minute workout. Exercise can be sprinkled in during your normal daily routine quite easily.

Reward yourself. At the end of your week if you have met your weekly goal, pick up some fresh flowers or splurge on a small dessert. Life is meant to be enjoyed!

Move more, every day!

Home – Purge More

I wanted a simple task for July – purge more! After all you should be taking things a little bit easier with the summer weather here! Take this month to do some serious purging. Depending on what you need to address in your home and your available time, set a goal that you can easily accomplished this month.

Maybe purge one item a day for 30 days or maybe 5 things a day for 30 days? Your choice.

Set up a bag for donation and a bag for trash. Then as you find things going through your daily activities, put the items in their appropriate bag. It doesn’t need to be an overly organized task, just a simple daily reminder to work towards – less IS more.

Simple Tips: To Purge More!

Start with your easiest room(s) first, where you are least attached to things.

Include your family members as appropriate – many hands make light work.

Carve out designated times, treat it like a job with a start and stop time.

Turn off any and all distractions, make it a focused time of productive work.

Have a plan for discarding unwanted items (garage sale, donation center, sell etc.).

Be honest with yourself as you go through all of your belongings.

Have a reward for yourself upon reaching your goal(s)…dinner out…

Need a little more direction?

I’m a passionate purger. Like seriously. I’ve shared more about my obsession (maybe problem???) HERE and HERE. But in all serious, too much stuff = too much stress. When you get rid of the unnecessary, you make more room for the necessary. #justsayyestoless

Purge more, every day!

The MC will be announced at the beginning of each month, with one focus for Health and one focus for Home. The announcement (post) will provide all of the necessary information and everyone is welcome to join! You may choose to do one or both challenges, the choice is yours. Look at your monthly commitments and evaluate what you will be able to realistically accomplish. For past Monthly Challenges go HERE – you can mix and match and jump in however and whenever!
