Macy’s Sales
I would highly suggest looking out for their “One Day Sale” or “Super Saturday Sale”. Despite offering huge sales day, Macy’s is friendly enough to launch and also let us use their famed $10 off $25 or $20 off $50 coupons on top of the sale. For special holidays and occasions, Macy’s will also host limited time sales. Near Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, July 4th or at the end of the season, take a quick look at Macy’s website and check out their current promotions.

I always look online for their “In Store Savings Pass” before I go into the store. They often have a coupon for an additional $10 off a purchase of $25 or more. If you’re really tricky, you’ll get a few items that are just around $25 and have your cashier split-tender your transaction. But, not all cashiers are willing to do that. Be courteous if they say no, but always ask. It can’t hurt!

I have definitely done this one a couple times when I forgot my Star or Wow passes at home. The Macy’s team is incredibly helpful and usually apply a coupon offer if they have an offer running. Otherwise, they tend to direct me to more budget friendly options so that’s a bonus too!
Monthly One Day Sales:
Once a month (usually the third weekend of the month), Macy’s will offer a One Day Sale that has the best savings. Each month, the savings will be different so you can be sure to find great savings on your favorite items at one point or another. Clearance items will be marked down further and usually there will be a coupon to stack on top of that. If possible, wait until the One Day Sale each month to get the best savings.

When you create a Macy’s profile, you automatically save an extra 15%! They will email you an EXTRA 15% OFF your next $100 purchase! Some exclusions apply.
Not only do you save immediately, but you are the first to hear about savings, deals, and offers. Not only do you hear about all the best deals via text or email, but you are, also, first in line to get some great coupons.

Buy online and pick up in-store for free – and you can even have part of your order shipped to your door if you prefer. Look for eligible items marked that you can pick up in the store. Most of the year, you get free shipping on orders over $99. For beauty products, shoppers can usually score free shipping on orders of $50 or more. Sometimes during major holidays, they will reduce the minimum so be on the lookout. For orders less than the minimum, shipping is $9.95.
One Day Sale Events
These events usually take place before major holidays like the 4th of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day. When they occur, you’ll find deep discounts on things like household items, handbags, shoes, and clothing. Just keep an eye out for advertisements to take advantage of One Day sales when they roll around.
Friends and Family Sales
You can save as much as 25% off with the Friends and Family Sale, which is only offered a few times a year. The discount is available for most items, although there are a few restrictions. When the sale comes around, don’t miss out!
Twice a year, Macy’s lets you take 25% off your purchase at the Friends & Family Sale. One sale takes place in spring, the other at the start of December. If you’re looking to make a big purchase and can afford to wait a little while, that 25% will definitely be worth it.

This is possibly one of the coolest rewards program to join. The Plenti Card allow members to earn and use their points across various stores from gas stations like Exxon and Mobil to entertainment like Hulu. The best perk of any program, it’s also free to join.
With Plenti, shoppers earn points for every purchase and 1,000 points will get you $10 off your next Macy’s order. Plus, you can earn double points on beauty and fragrance purchases.
Rewards program
Shop regularly at Macy’s? You should consider Plenti, a free-to-join rewards program that allows you to earn and then use points on the purchases. Members can earn 200 points after their first $100 purchase at Macy’s and 2x points after their first women’s shoes purchase at Macy’s, among countless other incentives. Other places that partake in the Plenti program include AT&T, Rite Aid and Hulu.
Plenti rewards are even greater for Macy’s Credit Card cardholders. The store offers two credit cards: the Macy’s Credit Card and the Macy’s American Express Card. Cardholders can climb through three levels (Preferred, Elite, Premier Elite) based on their yearly spending at the retailer. The higher your level, the more bonuses (exclusive savings, shipping offers) you’ll receive.
The Nerds generally don’t recommend opening up a retail store credit card as a new line of credit. Consider other options before you do.

Credit Card
I do have a Macy’s credit card and it is the only store card I have. I am usually against store cards (Pros and Cons of Opening a Department Store Credit Card), but having the Macy’s card is often the only way to get an extra percentage off (usually 10-25%). I use this card and immediately pay it off right there at the register. I do not leave the store with a balance. Doing this is the only way I believe in store cards. Take advantage of discounts, but don’t keep a balance. They can charge interest rates in the 30% range. So not worth it!
Wedding or Gift Registry at Macy’s
