Here are final markdown codes at popular retail stores. You may want to bookmark this post for future reference!
At Costco, when a price ends n “9″, it is the original price. If it ends in “7″ it is reduced for clearance. If there is an * in the price it means the item will not be restocked.
At Home Depot if the price ends in 66, it means it is marked for final clearance.
At Target, when the price ends in 8, it will be marked down again. if the price ends in 4, it is the final markdown.
If the item doesn’t sell, it is sent to Goodwill or a salvage company. At my local Goodwill store, I see brand new Target items for sale for pennies on the dollar, especially shoes.
Here is their unofficial clearance schedule from a friend who works at Target:
50 % off the day after a holiday for 3 days
75% off on the 4th day for 3 days
90% off on the 7th day for 1-2 days
Monday-electronics, kids clothing, and stationary items are marked down.
Tuesday - women’s clothing, pet items, domestics and food items are marked down.
Wednesday - men’s clothing, toys, beauty, personal care and lawn and garden items are marked down. Some Target store are eliminating the Garden Centers completely.
Thursday - home goods, underwear, shoes, sports gear, and movies, music and books are marked down.
Friday - cosmetics, jewelry, hardware and car related goods are marked down.
:: At The GAP and Old Navy, sales items ending in a “7″ is considered the final markdown price
:: Sam’s Club- prices ending in “91″ means it is a clearance item
