Dalliance Restaurant – Delightful, Delicious and Darn Right Dashing.

Dalliance hasn’t been at the V&A Waterfront for long but it’s already made my list of new places to try and I’m so happy I did.

I struggled to find the restaurant as it’s not where you’d find most restaurants at the Waterfront, but once you walk into Dalliance, you’ll understand why the location makes perfect sense with their ocean views.  I can imagine myself spending long summer-afternoons, graciously sitting on the high chairs and enjoying the view while sipping on delicious cocktails.

What I loved the most about Dalliance was the warm greeting (and, of course, a big smile) and how knowledgeable our waitress was about the menu. She was also kind enough to ensure that the kitchen was able to accommodate us with a few substitutions on their amazing tapas-style menu.  Dining at Dalliance, it’s best to bring a few friends and try as many dishes as possible off the tapas menu – it’s a social affair.

We started with oysters and calamari. The combination of spicy calamari and briny chilled oysters did wonders for our appetites.

We slowly moved on to the beef fillet, served with fries, and the fish of the day, served with green beans. The beef fillet was medium-rare and juicy; the fries, thin and crispy — just the way I like them.  The dish comes with a spicy pepper sauce that complimented the fillet nicely.

The fish was perfectly cooked and vegetables still crunchy; the capers that came with the fish added a perfect balance to the dish, bearing in mind, this is personal preference.

Believe it or not, we still had space for a half chicken tikka and we were so glad we ordered it. It was spicy just like it’s supposed to be and still tender and moist, complimented by a red cabbage coleslaw to balance out the spices.

We had mojitos to sip on while staring out the windows at the sea between our courses.

Throughout the meal, we’d been taking advice from our waitress and she’d be steering us in the right direction but her battle was lost when it come to dessert.  My partner and I both chose  the chocolate fondant served with ice cream and raspberries.  We had zero regrets!

Melted to perfection, it was gooey and warm yet not too sweet as Dalliance uses 70% dark chocolate to make the fondant.  It was the perfect end to our lunch.

If you want to find a quiet space with a great sea view at the busy V&A Waterfront, Dalliance delivers without fail.
