Spring Mill Farmers’ Market

Stay tuned for Spring opening!

The market will be held on Sundays through October from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the corner of East Hector and Lee Streets in the corporate parking lot.

The market will focus on vegetables, fruit and other food items produced within 150 miles of Conshohocken. Ben Bergman of Greener Pastures will be leading the effort to secure vendors and manage the market. Greener Pastures also manages markets in Ambler and Northeast Philadelphia. MoreThanTheCurve.com’s role is to make sure you show up!Ben reports that there has been a great response from potential vendors and thus far he has secured the following for the market:

Two vegetable and fruit farmers

Beef, chicken and fresh water fish

Mushrooms

A winery

And more!

Additional vendors will be announced over the next couple of weeks.

Zerns Farmer’s Market

Zerns Farmer’s market has been on the scene since 1922 when a few roadside stands sprang up in the backyard of the Zern family in Gilbertsville. Over the years. “The Sale” as it is fondly called by locals, has become known as the best spot to purchase fresh produce and thousands of other items. Known as the World’s Largest Dutch Treat, Zerns is still going strong after 91 years with more than 190 merchants under one roof, and people unique as their wares.Vendors and customers come from near and far, other countries and other states.

From plants to pants, socks to signage, antiques, tools and miscellaneous bric-a-brac…

An adventurous shopper can find anything from an old spittoon to an antique gift frame from friendly country folk. Sample Pennsylvania Dutch treats like funnel cake, corn relish, shoofly pie, chow-chow, and of course, homemade ice cream! There’s fresh produce, baked goods, meats, seafood, poultry, plants, yard sculptures, new and vintage clothing, coins, stamps, toys, spices, hardware, new and used books, beautiful junk, hidden treasures, memories and maybe a forgotten piece of the past.

Lauren Ziel, a Bucks County native, opened the first Pennsylvania barre3 studio in Newtown in 2013. Volunteer projects on the countywide trail system can include invasive plant removal, new native plantings, and cleanup along the trails, particularly after storms. Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, PA

The zoo first opened in 1924, when a private landowner donated a small piece of property and a handful of White Tailed Deer to the Borough of Norristown.  The first huge operation that went into action was the expansion of the park that was completed in 2002, and the park size doubled from its original 8-acre size. From 1999-2002, the Elmwood Park Zoo added more offices and shops to help regulate the business flow. The most popular spot at the EPZ is their interactive playground that was made in 2001. A year later, they included more common canines and rare weasels, specifically the endangered species known as the black-footed ferrets.
