Your Fall Fun Guide is presented by Upper Merion Township, who is celebrating the grand opening of their highly anticipated Community Center –  a state-of-the-art building equipped with kitchens, art studios, a fitness room, multiple athletic courts, free wifi, and many other great amenities. Members will receive free childcare while using the facility, as well as 15% discount on Upper Merion programs and trips, and 25% discount on pool memberships. The facility is also home to the Upper Merion Senior Service Center, providing a computer center and great room – among other amenities – to senior residents.

Fall Fun

Green Lane Park – Star and Night Sky Watch

When: Thur. Sept. 1 between 7:30 -8:30 pm

Look up to the heavens then join the Bucks-Mont Amateur Astronomers for an evening of star-gazing on Thur. Sept. 1 between 7:30 -8:30 pm at Green Lane Park. Club members will have telescopes available for your use and can answer questions about what can be seen in late summer’s night sky. Meet in Red Trail Parking lot on Knight Road. The event is free. Rain or cloud cover date is Sat. Sept. 3 at 7:30 pm.

The Legacy of Samuel W. Pennypacker

Creepy Crawlies

Take an excursion underground.  We will be looking under leaves and rocks on the forest floor and exploring soil as well as rotting logs to see what lives there.  Hear a story and make an earthy craft.  Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.  Meet at the pavilions.  Ages: 3 and up with an adult.  Pre-registration is required.

Vereinigung Erzgebirge – Bucks-Mont Oktoberfest

Celebrate Oktoberfest a little early this year on Saturday, September 10, from 11 am to 10 pm by visiting the Vereinigung Erzgebirge, a social and sports club in Warminster. Founded by German immigrants in 1931, the club has been hosting the annual celebration for 79 years. The day begins with an official keg tapping ceremony and plenty of food and beer will be available. Fun for the kids includes a moon bounce, face painting, soccer games and crafts. Musical performances by Willi Aust, The Philadelphia German Brass Band and other groups will take place throughout the day. Admission is $5.00 per person in advance or $7.00 at the door. St Sophia Greek Orthodox Church – Grecian Festival 2016
When: Sept. 8-11th

Where: 900 S. Trooper Rd., Jeffersonville, PA 19403

Join St. Sophia Church as they sponsor four days of Greek music, food and culture at their annual Grecian Festival to be held Sept. 8-11th. An indoor restaurant will be open from Thursday through Sunday evening while an outdoor tent featuring grilled items will be serving food Friday through Sunday evening. The festival begins at 11 am each day and at noon on Sunday. Carnival rides are available with special pricing on Thursday night and Sunday afternoon. Turn Your Clutter into Ca$h at Collegeville’s Colossal Yard Sale

When: Saturday, Sept. 10th 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Where: Waterworks Park on West First Ave. in Trappe, PA

Spend the beautiful fall morning at Collegeville’s fifth legendary Colossal Yard Sale!  The event features close to 100 vendors, food, and a large playground area for kids. The Yard Sale is laid out along tree-shaded paved paths, and sellers can drive their vehicles directly to their spaces.  Individuals who would like to sell at the yard sale, which attracts over 3,000 shoppers, can register at www.collegevilledevelopment.org.  A 10-foot space costs $25.  You must supply your own tables and chairs.  In the event of rain, the Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17th. Proceeds from the Yard Sale benefit the non-profit Collegeville Economic Development Corp. 2016 Montgomery County History Fair

“Necessities” The Trades of Early America – Early American tradesmen learned their craft as apprentices to master craftsmen who brought their expertise with them to America from the Old World. This year’s Fair is a look at life before Walmart when we took pride in making items by hand with skilled artistry. We’d also like you to experience another precursor to our modern day hotels, post offices, restaurants and transportation centers all rolled into one place called a Tavern or Publick House. Along with this look at an earlier time, we invite you to learn about the past of this amazing county in Pennsylvania, whose rich history abounds from the outskirts of Philadelphia to the up-country regions around Green Lane, from the local historical societies, churches and organizations who each proudly keep a portion of the story of Montgomery County

Craft Marketplace at Pennypacker Mills

This year the Craft Marketplace is being held in conjunction with the Perkiomen Valley Art Center’s Art Show and sale.  The artists will be exhibiting and selling 2-D artwork in the Classroom Building.  The Craft Marketplace is expecting 60+ carefully selected, skilled craftsmen who will be happy to fulfill your every need for the perfect holiday gift for your family, friends, or just yourself!  Our 100% handcrafted items include scrollsaw art and ornaments with an ongoing demonstration, woolen wares made of angora, alpaca and llamas (and the bunnies will be there too!), nature photographs, digital art, stained glass, sterling and gemstone jewelry, beaded jewelry, metal sculpture and jewelry, loads of baby items, and so much more from fabric crafts to jams and jellies and soaps we have it all!  All of this in one gorgeous location and in prices to please every pocketbook.  After shopping you can visit our food vendor and get dessert at the KONA ICE booth, visit the FRIENDS’ 50/50 raffle and FRIEND-made craft table, and tour the beautiful turn-of-the-20th-Century mansion.  All proceeds benefit Pennypacker Mills.

Central Schwenkfelder Country Fair

When: Sep 17 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Where: Central Schwenkfelder Church Fair, Entrance to the fairgrounds will be off of Valley Forge Road.

An old-fashioned Country Fair with activities for the whole family will be held at Central. An annual event since 1951, the Fair is held on historic farm property which is adjacent to the church; located on Valley Forge Road (Rt. 363), just north of Skippack Pike (Rt.73).   The Country Fair attracts more than 1,000 visitors each year and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to benefit charities, both local and worldwide.

Native American Day

A festive celebration of Native American culture.  The entire event (held at the pavilions) is free, including parking.

Scarecrow Making

Come to the park to make your fall scarecrow. We are having a contest to see who can make the scariest, the most original, and the best overall scarecrow. Bring the clothes you want to use, something to make a head with, and a hat for your creation. We will supply the straw. Meet at the park office. All Hallow’s Eve Fall Festival
