When you are out shopping for things you need around your home you might find that paying more for an item gets your better quality, faster service or even better care. But if you are a customer that has done your homework you will know that you do not always get what you pay for the fact is that sometimes you will get a lot less that what you bargained for. The reason behind this is that retailers and manufacturers are in the business of making money and often times the shoppers are willing to pay top dollar for what they are getting. For this reason as a shopper you should be well educated and avoid making mistakes when it comes to purchases you make. Here are some of the products that are overpriced and what you can do to avoid them all together.
Printer Ink
If you find yourself cringing every time your printer runs out of ink it is because you know that it will cost you an arm and a leg to replace the ink cartridges. Many printers take separate cartridges for each color. This means when the ink runs out you are forced to purchase more than one cartridge. Many times this will end up costing you more than the printer itself. The good news is that there is a low cost alternative that will save you money. This alternative is to purchase cartridges that have been refilled. You can do this online or even from your local warehouse store. This will save you plenty of money on the back end and usually the quality of the printing will be just as good as having a brand new ink cartridge.
Bottled Water
Purchasing bottled water may not seem expensive when you are making the initial purchase but if you add up the cost over a long period of time you will find that it adds up to be a large amount and it adds up quickly. Not only that but purchasing a new bottle of water on a daily basis is also bad for the environment. A solution to this problem is to purchase a reusable water bottle and refill the bottle with tap water. This will not only save you money in your pocket but it will help to save the environment as well.
Coffee From A Coffee Shop
When you stop at the corner coffee shop every day for your morning cup of coffee you are paying a very high markup for each cup that you purchase. Then when you decide to add in flavors, syrups and/or specialty drinks the price goes up even more. You can find yourself saving money by simply stopping the habit of drinking it. Or you can make your own coffee for a fraction of the cost. It is even possible to purchase a reusable insulated cup and refill it from your very own coffee pot.
Movie Snacks
If you have ever been to a movie theater you probably already know that the price they charge for concession snacks is ridiculous. No one really understands why these snacks are so much more expensive when you are at the theater. There is an alternative of not eating a snack at while watching the movie and either eating before or after or you can always pack yourself a bag of snacks before you leave home to take into the theater with you. This way you will save plenty of money on these snacks and still have a good time.
As you can see from the tips above there are many different ways that you can get around spending your hard earned money on things that are definitely overpriced. Of course there are many more as well you just need to do your research and sometimes get creative.
