Well, I figure this deserved its own post. It was our worst possible draw in terms of travel. But we avoided the Italians and Wolfsburg, so I don’t think there will be much complaining.
I know nothing about this team besides that they have Hulk, who used to be one of the most sought after strikers in the world before taking the cash and heading for Russia. I assume it is going to be a very challenging tie, but one that we can (and probably should) win.
Looking ahead at the schedule, it seems like it doesn’t fall at a terrible time. The first match is right after we host Barcelona, but then we travel to Granada imbetween the two Europa fixtures which isn’t too bad.
I realize that pretty much everyone on this site is prioritizing Europa over La Liga, but I am pleased to think that the two games which might most suffer from continued Europa involvement appear to be very winnable even with considerable team rotation.
Anyway, very very excited.
