When it comes to being a mom, I think that we can all agree that our children are important.  We dedicate our life to helping them feel happy, be healthy and stay safe.  From the moment they are born, we are making sure that they are taken care of and happy.  Whether you are breastfeeding or formula feeding, nutrition is important and the importance doesn’t stop when they get bigger.  That is why I head to our local Walmart and purchase Gerber Cereal Products.

When it comes to health, different ages require different foods.  I love that Gerber Cereal has different stages so you know exactly when to feed it to your growing child.  But did you know that Gerber Cereal varieties are great prepared by the packaged directions, or you can use them in your every day cooking?  When I first heard about this idea, I was a little hesitant because I wanted to make sure that my kids were eating the best that they could, but after seeing so many great recipes made with Gerber Cereals, I was eager to give it a try.

One of my families favorite recipes is banana bread.  I have a go to recipe that we always use because it is packed with bananas, flavor and so much goodness.  I decided to take this recipe and convert it to being able to use Gerber Oatmeal & Banana Cereal and Gerber Apples.  I wanted this recipe to be soft and easy to eat for toddlers so instead of making banana bread, we made Banana Bread cookies.  These have all the taste of banana bread but in a soft and easy to hold cookie form.  They really turned out delicious.  I couldn’t believe how quickly my kids gobbled them up!  Here is the recipe for our delicious Banana Bread Cookies.

Banana Bread Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup Splenda No Calorie Sweetener

1/4 cup Softened Butter

2 packs 4 ounce Gerber apples

8 mashed bananas

1 t. vanilla

1 1/4 cups Flour

1 1/4 cup Rice Cereal and Bananas

2 tsp Baking Soda

1 tsp salt

Directions

Pre-heat oven to 325.

Mix Splenda, butter, Gerber apples, mashed bananas and vanilla in bowl until combined.

Mix Flour, Rice Cereal with Bananas, Baking Soda and Salt into the wet mixture until combined.

Use a tablespoon to spoon out batter onto cookie sheet.

Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

Ever since making this recipe, my mind has been turning coming up with new recipes to try with our Gerber Cereals.  When our kids are young, we always stock up on our cereal, so it is fun to be able to find different ways to prepare it. I also love that you can use other Gerber baby food flavors to enhance the meal.  Next, we are going to make these cookies with the Oatmeal Banana Strawberry and add strawberry pieces to the batter.  Doesn’t that sound delicious?  You can head on over to your local Walmart and check out the Oatmeal Banana Strawberry, Multigrain Cereal, Oatmeal and Banana Cereal, and Gerber Oatmeal Cereal varieties.  I am excited to hear what you bake!
