Temecula Valley Museum

The Temecula Valley Museum offers families a look into Temecula’s past. Exhibits include documents, photographs, ranching and farming equipment, cultural artifacts, and more. Families can opt to explore on a self-guided tour or participate in a docent-led tour. One of their temporary exhibits is Black History in Comics, on display until March 15th. One of their permanent exhibits features artifacts and photos related to Erle Stanley Gardner, the famous “Perry Mason” author who lived in Temecula. An interactive discovery area allows children to have fun in a “Dress Shop,” “Photographer’s Studio,” “General Store,” and a “Ride-a-Pony Station.” The Museum is closed on Mondays. Admission is a suggested donation of $5 each, or $10 per family. In addition, you’ll find a park and picnic area right outside the Museum.
Ronald Reagan Sports Park

Within the 128-acres of the Ronald Reagan Sports Park, families will find many ways to spend a day. The Park includes a community center, barbecues, picnic tables, a children’s play area, 2 football/soccer fields, and ball fields. The park is also the site of special events throughout the year, including summer concerts and holiday celebrations.
Temecula Lanes

You’ll find 20 lanes at Temecula Lanes, a popular bowling spot in Temecula. Be sure to check the website before visiting, because they offer different specials on different days of the week. For instance, take advantage of “Double Take Thursdays” (when games are buy one, get one free all day). They also have an on-site grill offering pizza, nachos, fries, and chicken strips among other snacks.
Temecula Duck Pond and Veterans Memorial

The Veterans Memorial honors those who have served our country during times of peace and times of war, dating back from the Revolutionary War to present times. While young ones may not appreciate the significance of the Veterans Memorial, they’re sure to enjoy the adjacent duck pond! It’s a great spot to bring a picnic, sit back, and enjoy your surroundings.
Pennypickle’s Workshop — Temecula Children’s Museum

At Pennypickle’s Workshop, it’s all about play — and learning about science while you play. This special hands-on children’s museum is designed to look like Professor Pennypickle’s Workshop. Different rooms include the Library (where kids can learn about time and travel), the Dining Room (learn about electricity), the Music Room (learn about sound), the Kitchen (learn about chemistry), and the Bedroom (learn about perception and illusion). (There’s also the Bathroom, Pantry, Play Room, and Basement). Different special family-friendly events are periodically planned at the Workshop. Check the website for an upcoming schedule. Pala Community Park

The Pala Community Park has everything you need for a fun-filled day at the park. You’ll find volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, a football/soccer field, and a children’s play area. There are also barbecues, covered picnic areas, and on-site restrooms as well.
Child’s Play Indoor Playground and Birthday Party Center

When you need to get out of the sun, but the kids still need to play, then head to Child’s Play. Child’s Play is designed for children ages 6 months to 6 years old. Kids will enjoy exploring and playing with the slides, tunnels, play houses, ball pit, and more. Open Play is offered Monday through Friday as well as Sunday afternoons. Margarita Community Park

The Margarita Community Park isn’t like all other parks. Here, you’ll find a dog park, baseball fields, football/soccer field, tennis courts, and a roller hockey rink. In addition, you’ll also find the Eagle Soar Playground and Splash Pad here. This children’s play area is designed to be inclusive and welcoming for all children of all abilities. (Keep in mind that the playground and splash pad are sometimes closed — check the website before visiting).
Ronald H. Roberts Temecula Public Library

The Temecula Public Library offers a great deal of special events for children and families. In addition, the Kids’ Library is more than just a “kid’s section.” Here you’ll find puppets and toys, an outdoor Children’s Garden, the “Play and Learn Island — an interactive discovery space,” a large selection of books, CDs, and DVDs, and more.
Kent Hintergardt Memorial Park

Get Air Trampoline Park

Get ready to get moving and have some fun at Get Air Trampoline Park. It’s fun for the whole family, with a specially designated Kiddie Court for those who are under 46 inches. In addition to their regular hours, Toddler Time is offered twice a week, when the facility is only open to children 46 inches and under. Patricia H. Birdsall Sports Park

The Patricia H. Birdsall Sports Park is 44-acres, allowing space for basketball courts, ball fields, picnic areas, barbecues, a children’s playground, and a football/soccer field. And while you’ll find lots of parking spaces, you won’t find much shade near the children’s playground. (Keep that in mind as the swings and slide can become quite hot!).
Painted Earth Pottery and Art Studio

The Painted Earth Pottery and Art Studio is a place where the whole family can get creative! Families can take a workshop or enjoy open studio time. Select a ceramic piece and then make it uniquely yours by adding paint, patterns, and stencils. Painted Earth will then glaze and fire the piece in their kilns, making it safe for food and dishwasher use. In the Clay Room, children (and adults) can create priceless keepsakes featuring their hand and/or footprints. Be sure to check the website for information on classes as well as hours, fees, and other special gift ideas.

Temecula Creek Trail Park is the place to go if you’re searching for hiking/jogging trails. Families can stroll, hike, or jog (depending on your energy level) and explore the surrounding views and vegetation. You’ll also find a small children’s play area here as well.
Old Town Temecula

Old Town Temecula has been in existence since 1882. You’ll find many historical features here as well as shops, restaurants, art galleries, and more. In addition, special events are held in Old Town throughout the year. Green Acres Ranch

Another family-friendly way to explore Temecula is on horseback. Green Acres Ranch has been in business since 1957 and offers camps, lessons, and more. Families can arrange to go on a Ranch Ride which will provide them with views of Temecula Wine Country. The ride is about 1 hour and 15 minutes long. (Keep in mind — minimum age for riders is 7 years old). Check the website for information about making a reservation.
