Disclosure: I am participating in a sponsored campaign with ROC skincare. All opinions are my own.
I’ve been working with RoC skincare this month, and had the opportunity to learn more about anti-aging, ROC skincare, and Retinol through RoC’s e-learning site, RoC Academy. I went through the training program, and then hosted a Google hangout with my sister to review some of my findings. She’s younger than me, but anti-aging care is still important even in your mid 30s. We primarily talked about specifically about Retinol – the active ingredient in RoC products, and my experience with the products. It’s been a few weeks of me using them regularly, and I’m definitely seeing results. My skin is smoother, and the dry patches I had from the winter are gone.
You may remember that in my last RoC post, I asked readers what their top questions about skincare were. Well, thanks to ROC and the e-learning site, I have some answers!
Em Ma wondered “what is the best ingredient to look for in over the counter beauty products?” and Jenn M asked, “what’s the best product to counter-act the loss of firmness in older facial skin?’. According to the ROC e-learning lessons I reviewed, Retinol is the #1 dermatologist-recommended cosmetic anti-aging ingredient. However, packaging is important, so the product won’t degrade. In 1995, RoC® Skincare scientists discovered a way to manufacture and package retinol formulas without exposing the ingredient to air or light, ensuring the ingredient would not degrade.
Erin asked, “is laser treatment to only way to remove brown spots from sun damage, or will Roc products work over time”? According to the RoC website, uneven skin tone becomes more obvious as we age. Using RoC products with sunscreen as well as a moisturizing night treatment can help.
Finally, Jennifer R wondered, “How do you moisturize for aging skin when you still are dealing with acne issues?” This particularly resonated with me because even at 40, I deal with occasional breakouts. I got the answer to this questions from NYC board-certified dermatologist Dr. Doris Day, who explained, “Look for moisturizers with retinol (such as the RoC Retinol Correxion MAX Wrinkle Resurfacing System) that are designed for dry, sun damaged skin. Exfoliate on a regular basis to remove the dead outer skin layers that are ready to come off and moisturize with a rich emollient immediately after. This will allow for the moisturizer to properly penetrate and protect the skin. Also look for moisturizers that contain ceramides and hyaluronic acid.”
I’ll definitely continue using the RoC products I’ve been trying – I’m so pleased with the results. To learn more about RoC, visit their website.
