I started playing around with makeup around November last year. It was around the time that I was about to finish the tube of BB Cream I had then. I was thinking about buying a new one, but I realized, looking through my photos with the BB Cream, that it actually makes me look very haggard after a couple of hours. Turns out I had acidic skin, which makes whatever foundation or cream I have on my face get darker as time goes by. Being a noob with makeup, I must have spent around PHp 6,000+ worth of cosmetics and tools that I had NO IDEA how to use or if it was going to sit well with me skin. I wasn’t subscribed to a lot of beauty vloggers back then so I didn’t know that there are actual vlog reviews on products that are perfect for my skin type.
Fast forward to a year later, I can say that my makeup skills have greatly improved. Though it has made my going out prep time about an hour and a half longer! I remember last year complaining about how I can’t do my brows, and now I’m so happy that I can finally do them! I’m still in a trial and error phase with my face and eyebrow makeup but I’m getting there!
I’m also careful with what I put on my skin. After wasting all that money on makeup products then seeing how it’s not sitting well with my skin, I have also come to realize that I need to have good skin first and foremost so that anything I put on my face will look at least okay! For the past few times I went out with friends and with family, I’ve been using the Holika Holika x Audrey Jeanne: Dodo Cat Glow Cushion BB in 23 Pink to test it out and see if I can use this instead of my usual Loreal True Match Foundation. Here’s what I think:
Packaging: I don’t think BB Cushions can get any cuter than this!
First impression: The white paw gives your skin that shiny essence for that perfect glow. It doesn’t have any strong smell and it goes on my skin very well. Very easy to apply. While I was putting it on me, I was so confused and scared because it looked very light on my skin! Look at my facial expressions! The following photos are screenshots from the vlog I was planning on putting up together with this blog post, but I ran out of battery!
However, after a few minutes, the makeup has set on my skin and it looks good! I had to ask Oscar to check for me! I also applied it a bit further down my neck just to make sure my face doesn’t look too off colored if ever it was lighter talaga.

I went out with my friend Pierre that day and it stayed on well!
I wore it the next day to service and lunch (walking under the sun included!) and a quick trip to the mall, and it still looked good! Friday night, I hosted a dinner at home for my married women’s VG to celebrate my birthday and Justine (my childhood bff) loved how it looked on me!
The Verdict: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this BB Cushion! I feel so lucky that my first BB Cushion looks good on me! I still had to blot a couple of times throughout the day, but after blotting, it goes back to looking fresh and nice! I wonder how it would look if I set it with the Laura Mercier translucent powder. Baka perfection na! Haha! For the price, it really is an investment, but I like that it comes in a cushion compact, rather than the BB tube I had before. I hate applying makeup with my fingers so I love anything that makes makeup application easier.
