Living in Southern California, we are pretty close to some really cool theme parks. The biggest and most well known theme park in the world (it’s also the most expensive and ridiculously busy) is right down the freeway in Anaheim, and not to far from it is our family favorite theme park: Knott’s Berry Farm.
I have loved Knott’s since I was a kid, and now my kids love it too. One of our favorite times to visit is during Halloween time when Camp Spooky is going on.
One of Our Favorite Theme Parks: Knott’s Berry Farm
Now you may have heard of Knott’s Scary Farm, a VERY scary way to visit Knott’s at night because there are monsters and ghouls everywhere, and they chase you. I haven’t been since I was a kid and have no desire to go now.
On Sunday, we are excited that we’ll be going to Camp Spooky. This is family friendly Halloween celebration. It happens in the daytime and is a non-scare celebration of cheer rather than fear. It’s perfect for the whole family, and geared towards kids ages 3-11.
I took the girls to Camp Spooky a couple of years ago, and we all went as a family last year. There’s a ton for the kids to do!
The kids can wear their Halloween costumes if they’d like and take part in Snoopy’s Costume Party by joining a (non-scary)group of monsters and the PEANUTS characters in a parade through Camp Spooky. The kids are so excited to get to wear their Halloween costumes when we go on Sunday!
Make sure to check out Charlie Brown’s Spooktacular Show. The kids can sing and dance to their favorite Halloween tunes.
There’s a Monster Factory, a fun interactive maze for the whole family in which the little ones create the things that go bump in the night.
The kids are really looking forward to the “Creepy Crawly Critter Cave,” where Knott’s park naturalists will show off some slithery, slimy,creepy, crawly critters.
You can also check out “Scary Stories at the Lodge,” the “Great Pumpkin Patch,” and the kids can even decorate a cookie at the “Kooky Cookie Painting.”
And of course, there is Trick-or-Treating. Located throughout Camp Spooky, there are five Trick-or-Treating locations.
