As a parent, we are always looking for new fast and quick recipe’s to try out; at least I am. I love my crock pot and everything that I make in it. My food always comes out perfect and it is super easy to use. But what if we took using the crock pot to a whole other level and made dessert in it?

When I first heard about crock pot chocolate lava cake, I thought “Ew.” It looked really gooey and uncooked and honestly I wasn’t tempted to try it. After looking more into it and asking other people if they had tried it, I finally gave in after some pretty good reviews on it, and made it myself. SCORE!!

One weekend while my husband was gone all day I had plans on making a nice dinner for us. While I was thinking about what to make for dessert, I came across the chocolate cake mix that I already had in the cabinet. Thinking back to this recipe I thought, “What the heck” and decided to go ahead and try it out.

Ingredients

Cake

1 box chocolate cake mix (of your choice)

1 ¼ cups milk

½ cup vegetable oil

3 eggs

Topping

1 (3.9 ounce) instant chocolate pudding mix

2 cups milk

1 bag milk chocolate chips

Directions

Spray 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray.

In a large bowl beat your cake mix along with other cake ingredients with an electric mixer. Pour into slow cooker once mixed.

In a medium bowl, beat pudding mix and milk together with a whisk.

Pour over the cake batter in the slow cooker, but do not mix together.

Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.

Place lid on and turn on low heat to cook for about 2 ½ to 3 hours or until cake is set and pudding is bubbling out of the cake.

*Tip- to prevent the cake from burning around the edges, place parchment paper in the crock pot before pouring in your batter.

Want to talk about heaven? This is the most ooey, gooey, deliciousness you’ll have ever tasted. Serve this while it’s still warm in a bowl with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or cool whip on top and it is sure to be a big hit. My husband and daughter fell in love with this chocolate masterpiece, as I’m sure your family will too.
